WWII casualty group of four - WM, DM, 1939-45 star and Burma star to Lt W A Greenshields 1st Btn Lincolnshire Regiment together with photographs of him on his wedding day, a smaller portrait, his war grave, medal paperwork and booklet of the History of the Battalion. NB Lt Greenshields was the first battle casualty of the Battalion (see page 9 of the Regimental History included with the lot)

SS MAURETANIA (HMS TUBEROSE) 1914/18 War medal, Mercantile Marine medal WWII DM in box with ribbon and later Special Constabulary medal with LS bar to David A Vaughan, Steward's Boy, together with ribbon bar, photographs in uniform and ship camouflaged. SS Mauretania Hymn book, Discharge Certificate and other paperwork. Also included is a Citation etc. for saving life in 1939 (Liverpool). NB David Alfred Vaughan joined the Royal Navy in 1916 having lied about his age. He joined HMS Tuberose being the RN name for the Cunard liner RMS "Mauretania" under the White Ensign, as a Ship's Writer. At the end of hostilities his time with the RN finished but he was asked to stay, on reversion to her original Red Ensign format. He had to be issued with a Discharge Book which at that time on entering the Mercantile Marine required the production of a Birth certificate proving he was then sixteen.

Gallantry Group, awarded to 18-826 Sergeant Ernest Clifford Powell of the Durham Light Infantry, comprising DCM, 1914/15 Star, BWM and Victory Medal, with cap badge, brass shoulder titles and collar badges, all mounted in a display frame, together with framed citations and related ephemera; two miniature Rifle Association Medals; a Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee medallion. **Sergeant Powell was immediately awarded his DCM whilst advancing Ploegsteert Wood on 28th September 1918. His platoon came under heavy enemy fire, and under his own initiative he took out an enemy emplacement, whilst holding his platoons advanced position. Despite being wounded, he refused to leave the field

R.A., together with a red and blue enamelled brass lapel badge, and a folder of related ephemera including Official letters regarding the investiture on Tuesday 17th December 1946, letter from the DCM League, Service and Pay Book, Diary for 1944, Release Book, newspaper cuttings etc. **Sergeant Edward Bailey was awarded the DCM for gallantry in Malta. He was in command of a Bofors gun detachment on an aerodrome where he showed great bravery and coolness when bombs fell on the gun position. He kept the gun firing during two or three such raids until a bomb put his gun out of action.
