A Victorian Long Service in the Volunteer Force medal, together with a malacca and horn handled walking stick, the silver collar with presentation inscription "Presented to Sergt J.J. Collins with an enlarged photo of the Comp in the non-commision of Officers and men as a token of their esteem and respect for Long service in the Volunteer Force. (5)Frederick Henry Thorndyke (1887-1943) CSM, MC, DCM, MM. 320660 2/6th Battalion London Regiment (Rotherhithe.)London Gazette 30th July 1919.320660 C.S.M. Frederick Henry Thorndyke, D.C.M. 6th Bn. Lohd. R. Near Maricourt, South-East of Albert, during the operations of August 27th/28th, 1918, this warrant officer commanded a company in the attack with great skill and gallantry, all the officers having become casualties. With two other men he captured two enemy machine guns with their teams and was wounded endeavouring to capture a third. Throughout the operations on the 27th and 28th he showed conspicuous courage and qualities of leadership.DCM Citation."For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He showed the greatest courage and determination in handling his platoon throughout the attack. He captured his objective and encouraged his men by his splendid example and disregard of danger."The Battle of Amiens 1918.Despite the losses, the 6th Bn. attacked again on 27th and 28th August at Maricourt, after which it took part in what was becoming a war of movement against German rearguards. When the Battalion was taken out of line, total casualties between 8th August and 11th September amounted to 28 officers and 638 other ranks.

A Geo.VI Distinguished Conduct Medal, Offical duplicate and later plated, naming 38269V SGT. G.S. PERKINS. I.L.H.K.R. UDF. DUPLICATE.At M.SALVARO, Pt 826, M.R. L739264 on the 23 Oct. 44 the Bn was engaged in an attack on a commanding and well defended mountain peak. As they advanced casualties in the platoon were heavy and the Platoon Officer was killed. Sjt PERKINS immediatly took command of the platoon and under heavy enemy machine gun and mortar fire moved amongst his men, rallied them and fearlessly led them in the final attack. His outstanding leadership at a critical time resulted in the attaining of an important objective and the annihilation of the enemy position where many dead were strewn. The prompt assumption of command and the bravery of Sjt PERKINS was directly responsible for the success of the attack.

Silver Scout Association Gallantry Medal and Royal Humane Society Honorary Testimonial to Eric Stainthorpe, dated 30th September 1944 with contemporary and later photographs and newspaper cuttings. The silver Gallantry medal is awarded for gallantry in circumstances of considerable risk. *Eric Stainthorpe, a Bradford boy was just 13 years of age and a Patrol Leader with the 40th Bradford West Scouts on the 30th September 1944. On that day he was playing by the side of the Leeds and Liverpool canal at Saltaire, Shipley when he heard a small boy had fallen into the canal. Despite not being able to swim Eric dived into 9 feet of water and brought the young boy to the surface twice before both being assisted out of the canal. The young boys name is believed to have been Eric Swithenbank. Eric Stainthorpe went onto join the Household Cavalry before a career in business.
