This work is a revised and enlarged version of his Harveian prize essay of 1782.

CHAMPION IN HIGHLAND CATTLE SECTION .' and 'PRESENTED BY SIR WILLIAM OGILY-DALGLEISH.BART.D.L-L.L.D . PRESIDENT 1913.', outer ring cast with repeating thistle design, engraved coats of arms to centre, topped by 'P A S' initials and CHAMPION MEDAL, 2 3/8in. (6cm.) diameter, weight 2.7 tr.oz.* Condition: Very good, nothing to note.
A good electrotype copy of The Milton Shield by Elkington & Co. signed 'Morel Ladeuil Fecit 1866', of convex, oval shape with ropetwist borders, decorated in relief with a central scene of Adam & Eve and the archangel Raphael, framed to either side by elongated, kidney shaped reserves with scenes from John Milton's 'Paradise Lost', the border with zodiac signs, winged angels and seraphs and the figures of Sin and Death to the base, the reverse with an oval plaque for the 'Department of Science & Art Elkington' with the Queen's cipher, 32¾ x 22½in. (85.5 x 65cm.).* The original of this shield was a masterpiece by Elkington & Co, made for the 1867 Paris Exhibition, for which they were awarded a gold medal. The shield and medal now reside in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London and electrotypes were made by Elkington & Co. for sale at the South Kensington (now V&A) Museum in the years after the exhibition.** Provenance: Richard Price & Associates, Antiquarian Horologists, Portobello Road, London, c.1993

Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840 Single Clasp Capture of the Desiree 8/7/1800 Issued to Richard Bluett, Lieut RN. Officially Impressed with reverse pin for wear. The Medal has contemporary silver replacement suspension, toned, scratch to cheek of portrait and in obverse field.Only 24 medals were issued for this action.Commander Richard Bluett was born near Falmouth, 18/1/1781 His family were shipbuilders and were closely related to the old and influential Bluett family based at Halcombe Court. He joined the Royal Navy as an Able Seaman in April 1793 at the age of 12. He made his way up through the ranks and was present as Lieutenant aboard HMS Babet in July 1800 when it was involved in the capture of the French vessel the Desiree. His varied career continued and he was present at the Battle of Finisterre in 1805, at the reduction of the Cape of Good Hope in 1806 and was also noted for his "Steadiness and Good Conduct" at the taking of St Paul's Ile De Bourbon in 1809. Richard Bluett was promoted to Commander on 6/12/1816 and retired to half pay in 1837. He married Maria Fisher in County Cork in 1812. He died on 15/04/1854 aged 73 in Dublin.(Medal comes with copies of extensive research).

Pook was involved in Force "Pluto" during the last 2 years of the war (fuel pipeline to forces in France).The lot includes a Queen Mary gift tin, 2 Kings Royal Rifle Corp Sweetheart brooches including one in 9ct. gold, a Polish Navy Eagle, a name bracelet to Lt. A.G. Pook and 2 football related badges.Also included in this lot are numerous photos of the various family members, many in uniform. There are also a large number of relevant certificates etc and other items of ephemera including certificate for being mentioned in despatches (A.G. Pook) and his record of service including items relating to Force "Pluto". A very interesting lot.
