She was the official B.T. artist for the London 2012 Olympic Games. She sculpted HRH Prince Philip on his polo pony, which was the Queen's personal gift for her husband for their silver wedding

He was President of The Artist~s Fund Society and became a member of The Society of Arts in 1804. He is best known for his development of steel plates for engraving and received a Gold medal in 1823 by the Society of Arts for this work ++Relined, restored, in fair restored condition

An interesting photo album of early 20th Century Burmese interest, some photographs dated 1906 or 1908, and depicting a wide variety of life in Burma, including: stupas, architectural ruins, musicians, farmers, the Thadingyut Festival (Festival of Light), dam or canal building and group photographs; overall dimensions 30 x 22 cm; together with a quantity of photographs, watercolours and ephemera, mostly relating to Burma, including: The Dunn Medal of The Junior Institution of Engineers, reverse inscribed 'Awarded to Arthur Percy Morris/60th Session/1940-41' in its Spink and Son fitted case (2)Provenance: The Property of a Lady. Both the Medal and the album belonged to the vendor's Father-in-Law, Arthur Percy Morris, who worked as an Irrigation Engineer in Burma, serving also as a Provincial Arts Officer (see lots 86/89 for other named objects from his collection), cataloguing the arts and crafts of Burma and the Shan States. This dual interest in engineering and Burma's architecture are both of course represented in the album.The majority of this archive relates to the time which Arthur Percy Morris and his wife, Doris Sarah Easton, spent together in Burma. Doris was clearly an active watercolourist, painting landscapes which are dated 1918-1920. Arthur's obituary appeared in the 'Journal of The Junior Institution of Junior Engineers', January 1945, a copy of which is offered with this lot. Condition Report Please note that there are several areas of deterioration to the binding, paper and photographs of the albums, booklets and ephemera in this lot.

10th (Royal) Hussars silver medal, 41mm diam. Obv: P.O.W feather plume within Garter “Prince of Wales’s Own”, above a scroll “Royal Hussars” set within a wreath of roses, thistles and shamrocks. Rev: mounted Hussar within similar wreath with engraved date 1846 below; the suspender being a hinged bar. The edge engraved in script “Presented to Sergt Thos Oldbury by his Bror Sergts and Sergt Majors as a mark of their esteem” (Bulmer R63). GVF Note: Thomas Oldbury born Birmingham 1798, attested at Weymouth Dorset 22nd April 1819, promoted Sergeant 4th June 1829, and was Armourer Sergeant for 16 years. He left the service in April 1846, aged 48, as being unfit to proceed with his regiment to India or for any further service on account of his age. His trade was shown as lock maker and the 1851 census shows the 53 year old as a Gun lock maker in Birmingham. He died in 1876

This example is of the E Avern type based on Pistrucci’s official coronation medal and which was distributed to, and worn by, the Buckinghamshire Yeomanry Cavalry Hussars who acted as escort on Coronation day. Diam 50mm, GVF and similar in design to the silver Volunteer medal given for 1848 Birmingham Riots. 26th Foot 1823 AE regimental medal, obv Religion seated presenting a medal to a soldier, rev. crowned crossed Regimental Colours on bible; by Rundell, Bridge and Rundell. VF, lacking the suspender. (2)

5th Foot Order of Merit, with struck obverse and engraved reverse, diam 35mm, with ornate loop suspender. Obv. representation of St George slaying dragon with scroll “Quo Fata Vocant” above and scroll “Vth Foot” below; rev engraved “Jefy Morris After 21 Yrs Good Faithful Service as a Soldier hath received from his commanding offr this honorable testimonial of his Merit” and dated in exergue “June the 4th 1769”. See Balmer R171 for similar and of same date. A Post 1836 Merit medal bearing the designation V Northumberland Fusiliers, diam 34mm, un-named, in bronze. NVF (2)
