A Royal Humane Society bronze medal, naming JACK COOMBER 22nd JULY 1967, boxed, with press cuttings.Mr Jack Coomber (41) of 12 Windmill Rd, Sittingbourne, swam 1000 yards in a bid to rescue two men after their fishing boat capsized.The two men coud not swim and Mr Coomber towed them to the capsized dinghy telling them to hang on while he swam to a motor launch.He swam to the launch, started it up and made for the dinghy. He hauled one 14-stone man into the launch and continued to search for the second man for 30 minutes without success.
