A group of WWII medals to Squadron Leader John Deverell Marvin RAFVR, comprising OBE(Mily), 1939-45 War Medal, Defence Medal, 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star and Burma Star, together with a silver Long Jump medal. (Order of the British Empire citation 1 January 1945 Squadron Leather Marvin commanded the Air Section abroad HMS Largs throughout the assaults upon Pantellaria and Sicily, as well as in the invasion of Normandy, this section has accomplished its tasks with the utmost enthusiasm, resulting in an adaptability to meet all contingencies. The keenness and efficiency shown have been largely due to Squadron Leader Marvin's excellent leadership).

An armorial decanter and stopper c.1800, of mallet shape, engraved with the coat of arms for the Delaval family of Northumberland, beneath a band of cut lappets and two faceted neck rings, 30cm. (2) The Delaval family originated in France and settled in Northumberland following the Norman Conquest. This decanter was probably made for Edward Hussey Delaval, who shared the Copley Medal in 1766 for his research on metals and glass. He was known for his performances on musical glasses. Provenance: from a private collection in Sussex.

A Regency bronzed plaster figural lamp and column,by Humphrey Hopper, in the form of a river goddess, her right hand holding a brass lamp, standing on a fluted plaster pedestal in the form of a fluted column with bands of classical motifs, the figure impressed 'Dec 1 1806, H Hopper, London', the lamp bears a plaque 'M Pettie & Son. Patent. Aberdeen',figure 89cm highcolumn 91cm highThe sculptor, Humphrey Hopper (b.1767), attended the Royal Academy Schools and, in 1803, was awarded a gold medal for his 'Death of Meleager'. His most famous work is the marble monument to General Hay in St. Paul's Cathedral, commissioned by the government in 1814. He exhibited at the RA between 1799 and 1834, and with many busts, statues and other sculpture, produced a wide range of ornamental figures in plaster and terracotta.

Lot also includes (not shown in image) his HMS Royal Arthur Handbook, a named, group photo of his class at HMS Royal Arthur, Skegness 1940 & an inscribed photograph of MV Rangtata on which he embarked for Algiers in 1943.
