WWII, attributed group of three, 1939-1945 Star, Atlantic Star and War Medal, attributed to Sergeant James Robert Elding RAF with photographs, RAF cloth wings insignia and American silver brooch, photographs and research J R Elding of Wysall Nottinghamshire, a pilot, was amongst those killed on Liberator AL591 which crashed eight miles from Gander Airport USA in February 1943. The Milton Shield, a large Victorian electrotype shield,by Elkington and Co.,1866,oval form, decorated with scenes from Milton's Paradise Lost, the central panel depicts in high relief the archangel Raphael with Adam and Eve, to the right and left of this are two panels showing marching and defeated rebel angels, above is God the Father and below the archangel Michael defeating Satan, with a rope-work border, signed 'Morel-Ladeuil Fecit 1866', and signed 'Elkington', length 85cm.The Milton shield was designed for the Paris Exhibition of 1867, where it won a gold medal. The original is in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Two signed Antarctic expedition postcards,signed by Captain Ernest Edward Mills Joyce, depicting a group of penguins, and a man (possibly Joyce) on a dog sledge, both dated with Joyce's three polar expeditions, 14 x 9cmDuring his lifetime, Captain Ernst Joyce (1875-1940) undertook three separate expeditions to the South Pole as part of the British National Antarctic team;1. 1901-1904: Discovery - led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott. 2. 1907-1909: Nimrod - led by Ernest Henry Shackleton, where Joyce was placed in charge of dogs and sledges. The expedition produced the world's first book on the Antarctic; Aurora Australis, to which Joyce was a main contributor. The formation Mount Joyce was named after him whilst mapping the area. 3. 1914-1917: Aurora - as Second-In-Command of the Ross Sea Party of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition organised by Shackleton.
