ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS - Captain H N Williams MC 4th Bn attached 1/4 Bn London Regiment 56th Division. Military Cross, WWI Medal and Victory Medal. MC engraved "Captain H N Williams 4th RWF 29-3-1918" Victory Medal with oak leaf (MID) together with set of miniatures. Also photographs of Capt Williams, small photo album, MID Certificate for 8/11/18, copy of the War History of the 4th Battalion The London Regiment printed in 1922 (Captain Williams is mentioned 15 times). A copy of "The 56th Division" printed in 1921 and a silver sweetheart badge for 56th Division, his Sam Browne belt etc. NB: Captain Williams survived the war and became the accountant for Ellerman shipping Lines in Liverpool. Captain Williams was the father of the late Group Captain J N Williams ++medals in good uncleaned condition with original ribbons
OBE (military) GROUP TO GROUP CAPTAIN J N WILLIAMS 144601 RAF VR OBE, WWII Star, Atlantic Star, Burma Star with Pacific clasp, Defence medal, WWII medal, General Service medal clasp SE Asia 1945-46 and Queens Coronation medal (total 8) together with a set of miniatures. Included with a large archive relating to his career - documentation for OBE and other medals, Observers and Air Gunners log book covering 1941-1953, Airmans Service Book, Commission scrolls, dog-tags, badges, photographs, framed certificates etc. Group Captain J N Williams OBE C.Eng MIEF 144601 RAF VR - born 4.1.23, joined RAF 3.7.41 qualified for Air Crew as wireless operator and air gunner. Commissioned 21.5.43, promoted to Group Captain 1.7.74 and retired 4.1.78. His last post being Chief of Communications Management Branch at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). During the war he flew over 400 hours. In Wellingtons, Warwicks, Sunderlands and Liberators etc and during his career totalled 1043 hours in 23 different types of aircraft and took part in the first Battle of Britain Fly Past in 1949, over London in a Lancaster. Half of his military career was served overseas in India, Burma, Java, Pakistan and 4 assignments in the USA. He was a crack shot and won in excess of 50 trophies for rifle, pistol and submachine gun competitions. ++medals mounted with some service wear but overall good condition
