WILLIAM DAVID MORRIS RAOC TA (1910-1983) including a bar of seven medals with accompanying miniatures comprising 1939-1945 Star, The France and Germany Star, 1939-1945 The Defence Medal, 1939-1945 Medal with oak leaf (Mention in Despatches), 1953 Coronation Medal, Elizabeth II Territorial Medal and a 1940-45 Norway Medal, together with separate cased breast star (and miniature) of Knight of Grace of the Order of St John and various related pin-badges. To accompany, a file of letters, ephemera and photographs relating to these medalsProvenance: private collection Ceredigion, accompanying paperwork as outlined, Morris was born on 20/11/1910 ar Teifi Villa, Llandeilo, worked for Barclays Bank in London with his final post as Manager of Wembley High Road branch, former Treasurer of East Castle Street Baptist chapel, member of London Welsh Society and joined the Territorial Army where he rose to Lieutenant Colonel. As Captain in the RAOC he was mentioned in despatches for distinguished service on March 22nd 1945. In 1946, he was parachuted into Norway. Later became JP and served as a Deputy Lord Lieutenant. Awarded Officer of the Order of St John in 1980.

FULHAM FC MEDAL 1891 Winners medal for the West London Observer Association Football Challenge Cup 1891. Hall-marked silver with enamel crest and engraved on reverse "Fulham FC J.King 1891". Fulham FC, founded in 1879 had prior to this triumph only won one other Cup competition, namely the West London Cup in 1886-87, and this is a medal from only the second trophy that Fulham had won. Until 1898, Fulham were an amateur side and Jack King was also a member of the Fulham Championship team of 1892-93 (West London League) and was a founder member of the team from the Mud Pond pitch days near Star Lane. This was the first season that this Cup competition was held and Fulham defeated The Stanley 5-3 in the Final after a draw a week earlier. The medal with pin clasp is in good condition and comes with a non-original case. Good

A 22ct gold 1878 Great Paris Exposition medal.The obverse depicts Marianne who has been the national personification of the French Republic since the French Revolution as a personification of liberty, equality, fraternity and reason, as well as a portrayal of the Goddess of Liberty.This beautiful sculpted medal by Barre was actually won and awarded to a British Farmer Charles Elmhirst Duckering for his top quality farm animals he had bred and exhibited at the fair.Housed in a fitted red box, embossed initials to top with green velvet interior. Albert Désiré Barre (Paris 6 May 1818 – 29 December 1878) was a French engraver, medalist and the 18th Chief Engraver of the Paris Mint from 27 February 1855 to his death. He was the son of Jacques-Jean Barre who preceded him as the Chief Engraver. His brother Jean-August Barre, a French sculptor and medalist, succeeded him as Chief Engraver after his death in Paris.This medal was one of his last commissions made for the great Paris Exposition of 1878 where science and the arts were showcased and competed against by over 28 countries based at Trocadero Park and commenced on 1st May 1878.Diameter: 33.4 mm.Thickness: 1.5 mm.Weight: 24.62 g.Composition: 916.0/1000 Gold .PLEASE NOTE: 18% Buyer Premium + VAT on this lot.
