Military Medal group to 1571041 Pte George Edward Hawkins Camerons. GVI MM, 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal and War Medal + original named Buckingham Palace letter, and a newspaper cutting. The MM was awarded for fearless devotion to duty when he traversed the 250 yards of ground 3 times despite heavy fire to deliver orders which contributed largely to `D` Companies successful attack on San Marino, 22nd Sept 1944. The cutting shows Hawkins receiving his medal from an American General. (5) VF

Norfolk Regiment Family WW1 casualty groups, BWM & Victory pair, 240658 Pte.W.J.R.Newson served 5th Bn KIA 19-4-1917, born Gorleston, Enl. Gt.Yarmouth. (entitled pair only) BWM & Victory 242490 Pte G.J.Darnell 5th Bn taken POW 19-4-1917 born Gorleston, Enl. Gt.Yarmouth (on his 18th Birthday) captured on same day his step brother was killed. He died as a POW 26-10-1917 (mic pair only) & Victory medal 3694/ES G.E.Darnell Engineman RNR who died aged 44 21-11-18, buried Gt.Yarmouth (Gorleston) Cemetery, he was the father of the above two sons. A tragic family story. NEF

Heming C.Q.M.S. by the W.O`s & Sgts London Irish Rifles on his retirement 1936`. Back of watch attractively engraved with an Irish Harp. WW1 Victory Medal to 2107D.A. Charles Whitehead DH RNR. Copied papers list him as `Missing 31/10/1917 on the James Seckar`. Born Harrogate. CWGC lists him a `Died 25th September 1917 HM Trawler "James Seckar" `. The Seckar was sunk by UC 63 (Karsten von Heydebreck) with 16 Casualties noted. GVF (1)
WW1 Victory Medal to 22/73 S.Nurse Mary Gorman N.Z.A.N.S. Killed when Transport Ship `Marquette` was torpedoed and sunk 23rd Oct 1915. Lived Arno, Waimate, Timaru. Commemorated on the Mikra Memorial. Comes with research in which she is mentioned as having tried to save a fellow Nurse when a lifeboat fell into the sea. Please note the medal naming is very haphazard, possibly a late issue (sold as seen) (1) NEF
WW2 Casualty 39-45 & Atlantic stars, 39-45 War medal, with letters and many photographs of recipient, D/LX 21873 R.J.Stukey who was a Leading Steward on HMS Edinburgh and a tragic letter from the Admiralty relates "Your son a survivor of HMS Edinburgh is presumed to have lost his life on 6th July 1942, when the ship in which he was taking passage was sunk by striking a mine while on convoy escort duty". HMS Edinburgh had been transporting 465 gold bars from Russia to pay for all the war material sent to her, She was torpedoed by U-456 but stayed afloat some days even managing to so badly damage the Hermann Schoemann that her crew scuttled her. Ronald Stukey"s body was probably washed ashore as he is buried at Reykjavik (Fossvogur) Cemetery. Norway. The gold was recovered in the 80"s. medals NEF
WW2 Casualty family double tragic casualty group to the Ellis family, Ord.Seaman J.J.Ellis (39-45 & Atlantic stars & War medal) was KIA on HMS Lagan 20-9-43 when U-270 (Commander Otto) fired a GNAT (aerial toredo) at the frigate Lagan which was escorting convoy ON202 and blew off the stern of HMS Lagan killing 29 of her crew. She reached port under tow but was written off. A huge archive of letters, photos (inc his burial at sea) large official memorial scroll etc, Brother 3448900 L/Cpl George Ellis 2nd Bn Lancashire Fus (39-45,Africa & Italy stars,War medal) KIA Italy 8-4-45 buried Farenza Cemetery with letters and photos Third Brother 3607578 Tpr P.Ellis Recce Corps, India Command (39-45 & Burma stars & War medal) letters and photographs, needs careful viewing a most tragic family group. WW2 POW Escapees 39-45 star and War medal with huge archive of paperwork, mostly letters approx 100+? whilst a POW 6341096 Cpl. Alfred Brown 1st Bn Queens Own R.W.Kent Regiment, lived Folkestone, born 1913, enlisted aged 16 in 1929, captured 29-5-40 was held POW in 4x different camps, escaped twice, recaptured by Police and Gestapo in Czechoslovakia both times, endured the forced march back to Germany in 1945. needs viewing, very interesting.
