A mounted medal display comprising British Army WWI Military Medal and Victory Medal named to 96811 Pte A/Lcpl W C Hook, Middx Regiment. William Charles Hook was from Brighton and served with the 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment, his MM was Gazetted 13 September 1918. He was captured at Soissons on 27 May 1918 and held at Merseburg POW camp in Germany until the end of the war; WWI Victory Medal named to 2544 Pte A Watkins, Hereford Regiment; WWI 1914/15 Star named to 444 Pte F H Baldwin, Hereford Regiment. Frank Harold Baldwin enlisted in 1908 and served in Gallipoli, before being invalided to India; British War Medal named to 5211 Pte W G Thorpe, 21 London Regiment. William George Thorpe was a stock broker's clerk from Enfield when he joined the 21st Battalion London Regiment (1st Surrey Rifles), he was wounded in March 1918, and a 1939-45 Star, Burma Star, Pacific Star, 1939-45 War Medal, Defence Medal, Atlantic Star, together with a medal ribbon with rosette for Atlantic Star and MiD emblem on War Medal
British Empire Medal named to 7641854 A/W.O.CL.2 Reginald G Jeffery, RAOC, Defence Medal and 1939-45 War Medal. Reginald Guy Jeffery was a technical clerk serving in the UK from 1940 to 1947. His release testimonial stated “Sub Conductor Jeffery is a specialist in Exhibition construction and has built many of these for propaganda purposes in the Army” B.E.M. London Gazette 9th January 1946. He died in Harlow 27th April 1973
British Army WWII D-Day Military Cross medal group for Major H F Wheway, 22nd Dragoons, comprising Military Cross, 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, War Medal, Defence Medal and miniatures, together with a copy of his citation, cufflinks, commemorative medals etc. The citation reads as follows: 'On June 6th, 1944, Capt Wheway landed on 'Queen' Beach in command of a detachment of Flails. The beach was very strongly held and the assaulting tanks came under very heavy fire from 88mm guns as soon as they landed. Capt. Wheway led his tanks with the greatest determination and was very quick to re-organise his force as casualties occurred. It was largely due to his dash and determination that the lanes were cleared in face of heavy opposition. By his determination to break through the minefield and by his complete disregard of his personal safety, he set a very fine example. His conduct during the two days fighting was an inspiration to all' G H Grosvenor, Lieut-Col. Commanding 22nd Dragoons

(Pte J Mackay enlisted in Canada 22/2/18, arrived in England 3/4/18, deployed on the Western Front 25/9/18 and was killed in action 1/11/18)
Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Victorian) named to Sgt J Doyle, 3rd Dragoon Guards 1876. Engraved in small capitals, possibly renamed. James Doyle enlisted 1856 in the 3rd Dragoon Guards and served in India for 10 years and in the Abyssinia Campaign. He was discharged February 1877

Royal Fleet Auxiliary group of ten medals spanning almost 30 years of service with the RFA, comprising South Atlantic Medal (rosette) named 2/O P J Snelson RFA Sir Galahad; General Service Medal with clasps for Gulf and Air Operations Iraq named to 1/O (N) P J Snelson RFA Service; Gulf Medal named to 1/O (X) P J Snelson RFA, United Nations Medal (UNPROFOR); Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan named C/O (X) P J Snelson RFA; Iraq Medal with clasp 19 March to 28 April 2003 named to C/O (X) P J Snelson RFA; NATO Medal with Libya/Libye clasp; Golden Jubilee Medal; Diamond Jubilee Medal and Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service Medal with bar, named to C/O (X) P J Snelson 23/12/90. Peter John Snelson was a 2nd Officer on RFA Sir Galahad and was on the bridge when she was hit by Argentinian bombs during the Falklands War. His service continued and included the 2011 Libya Operations, on the new RFA Sir Galahad during Operation Telic. Also included are some boxes of issue and the Saudi Medal for the Gulf War. Peter Snelson died in June 2019 aged 66.
India Service Medal 1854 with clasp for Burma 1887-89 named to 2758 Pte C H Milsom, 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire Light Infantry, engraved in ornate capitals. Charles Sanders was born in Cheltenham in 1868, after his father died, his mother Charlotte took in a lodger named Henry Milsom, they married and her son became known as Charles Henry Milsom. He enlisted in 1887 and served in India and Burma.
