Medals (5) of 2094 (200522) Acting Serjeant William Charles Roberts of the S.W.B. 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal 1914-1920, Allied Victory Medal 1914-1918, India General Service Medal with clasp 'Afghanistan, N.W.F. 1919', Defence Medal 1939-1945. Landed in Aden on 3rd July 1915 with the 1st/1st (Brecknock) Battalion of the South Wales Borderers and went on to serve in the 'Aden Movable Column' and fight in the battle of Lahej. Relieved from Aden they moved to India and garrisoned Mhow until the war's end. Still in the country awaiting repatriation, he became a reinforcement fighting the Third Afghan War. Discharged on 20th December 1919.

Enlisted on 11th December 1915 into the Royal Garrison Artillery aged 38 and transferred to the Army Reserve. Mobilised on 27th September 1916 and joined No 1 Depot RGA and then inter-posted to the Anti-Aircraft Depot. Posted to North Scottish RGA (TF) on 3rd January 1917. Landed in France on 27th July 1917 and joined 29th Siege Battery RGA of 66th Heavy Artillery Group (HAG) on 3rd August 1917. Discharged on 30th January 1919 at Shorncliffe.

Discharged on 28th February 1919.

Enlisted in Cardiff on 11th April 1898 into the 1st Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers whilst serving with the Cardigan Militia Artillery. Served in South Africa from 23rd October 1899 until 18th July 1900, being wounded at the Battle of Tugela Heights. Tried and found guilty by District Courts Martial on 14th September 1900. Returned to duty with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers in China until 9th November 1902, when they were posted to India. Transferred to the Army Reserve on 10th April 1906.

Served in France from 15th November 1917 until 10th October 1918 with 22nd (County of London) Battalion (The Queen's) when he was medically evacuated with machine gun bullet wounds to his left arm. Treated in Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone. Transferred to the Reserve on 4th March 1919.

Medals (4) of 279979 Petty Officer Stoker George Abraham R.N. 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal 1914-1920, Allied Victory Medal 1914-1918, and GV Naval Long Service & Good Conduct Medal. Labourer from Bittern, Southampton. Enlisted as a stoker on 4th July 1895, for 12 years seeing service at sea aboard ten different ships before being discharged as a Petty Officer (Stoker 2nd Class) ashore and joining the Royal Fleet Reserve on 17th July 1907. Mobilized for war service on 2nd August 1914 he joined HMS Minerva and took up his previous role of Petty Officer Stoker until discharge on 23rd February 1919.

Enlisted into the Volunteers and converted into Territorial Force. Mobilised as Surgeon and Lt (TF) on 24th September 1914. Attached to the 11th (County of London) Battalion, London Regiment.  Landed in France on 26th January 1917.Award of a Mention in Despatches announced in London Gazette dated 17th December 1917. Award of a Military Cross announced in the London Gazette dated 23rd April 1918 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He worked untiringly, attending to the wounded under heavy fire during an attack. He made several journeys over most difficult ground to reach wounded men who were lying out in the open and showed splendid courage and gallantry throughout'.

In 1917 he was attached to I Company, 3rd Battalion, Welsh Regiment. In 1919 he was with 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment prior to his discharge.

And admitted prior service in 3rd Battalion, South Wales Borderers. Discharged from 1st Garrison Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 27th March 1919 aged 51.

Medals (4) of 16212 Private William Marshall D.C.M. Distinguished Conduct Medal GV, 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal 1914-1920, and Allied Victory Medal 1914. A resident of Yeadon, Leeds. He enlisted into the 8th (Service) Battalion, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment), formed in Halifax on the outbreak of war in August 1914. First saw action at Gallipoli after his arrival on 24th November 1915. Subsequently served in the 9th (Service) Battalion, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) in France, and by 1918 was serving with the 2nd Battalion, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment). The award of his Distinguished Conduct Medal was recorded in the battalion war diary on 11th August 1918 and was published in the London Gazette on 30th October 1918. 'For conspicuous gallantry in action. He came upon a post containing eight of the enemy, one of whom fired and wounded him in the nose and shoulder, causing him to drop his rifle. He then threatened them with a grenade and caused them to surrender, and although suffering great pain and having no arms except a grenade and a billhook, he marched them back, single-handed, to our lines through the enemy barrage. This incident was observed by an officer and men of his own battalion holding the front line.'18th General Hospital R.A.M.C. records show he was admitted on 23rd July 1918 with a shrapnel wound to his left shoulder, and he was discharged to a convalescent depot on 2nd August 1918.  He was finally discharged to the Reserve on 15th February 1919.
