PIETRO FRAGIACOMO (1856-1922)On the Lagoon, VeniceOil on canvas, 47 x 86cmSignedPietro Fragiacomo was born in the Italian town of Pirano d'Istria near Trieste, but lived most of his life in Venice. He studied for a year in 1877 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Venice.In 1887, he exhibited at the Esposizione di Venezia. In 1889, he won a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 in Paris and took part in the Munich International Exhibition of the same year, as well as later editions. In 1895, his canvas Tristezza (Sadness) won awards in Venice, and again the next year, in Berlin.He painted mainly seascapes and cityscapes of Venice, often at night. He won the Prinze Umberto prize at the Milan Triennale of 1891 and was a regular participant from 1895-1922 at the Venice Biennale, which displayed a solo show of his work in 1910 and a posthumous retrospective in 1924. He died in Venice.

Aralova was married to Lloyd Patterson, an African-American immigrant, who was an actor and speaker on All-Union radio in Moscow. During the Great Patriotic War, she was evacuated to Siberia. In 1930, Aralova made set designs for the Mossovet Theater, Moscow Art Theatre and Drama Theater. In 1948, she began working as an artist-couturier at the Union House of Models, and she was awarded the gold medal at the International competition of clothes in Warsaw (1956). Aralova became a member of the Union of artists of the USSR, and actively participated in solo and group exhibitions. She was awarded the title of honored artist of the RSFSR.THIS LOT IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE.

A World War I family medal group of five, comprising casualty trio 1914-15 star, BWM and VM to 12752 Pte W. Fleet, Cheshire Regiment, 19th Division, KIA 3rd July 1916 in The Somme, with a WWI pair to 135945 Gnr A. Fleet Royal Artillery, BWM and VM with 1914 On War Service Badge, accompanying the medals is an extensive dossier for each soldier from enlisting through including copies of official documents, also with this lot is a Constabulary Faithful Service medal to Joseph Fleet, (William, Arthur and Joseph were brothers from Christelton, Chester). In addition is a WWI pair to A-2543 S. Sjt W. H. Bancks A.O.C, BWM & VM, Banks and the Fleets probably did not know each other but but the granddaughter of Arthur Fleet married the grandson of Bancks, hence the medals coming together (Qty)

Blackemore A.V.C. (Army Veterinary Corps), with three Army Temperance Association medals, one for the 1897 Jubilee, and two in memoriam for Queen Victoria 1901, two other A.T.A. medals and a Cheshire Regiment badge (9). Blakemore died in 1960 at the age of 82 and is buried in Marbury Church, Cheshire

Robertson 42nd Battalion R.F.A dated 23rd April 1917, another letter from the Battalion Chaplain N.W.A Edwards 6th D.A.C R.F.A, with a 1914 Christmas tin and other ephemera.
