(R.F.A to Star). Charles Johnson served in South Africa with 4th Battery Royal Field Artillery. Discharged after 16 years service, he rejoined in October 1914 and died of wounds received at Ypres on 29th April 1915 when he was 41 years old and was serving with 366th Battery, Royal Field Artillery. His wife Elizabeth lived at Seaforth, Liverpool.

Royal Marines Egypt Medal with clasps for Suakin 1885 and Tofrek, named to Cpl C H Kybett, R.M.L.I. and Khedive's Star (undated). Charles Henry Kybett was born in Rochester, Kent in 1867 and enlisted in the Royal Marine Light Infantry January 1880. Shown as 'Royal Marine Battalion Egypt' for Suakin. He was discharged 1901 and applied to be a Subordinate Officer, Prisons Department, England June 1901, serving at Parkshurst Prison 1902-1907. He died on the Isle of Wight 1908.

Hurrell, Royal West Kent Regiment and Khedive's Star 1882. William Henry Ansell was born in Bristol. He is shown on Egypt Roll as Wm Ansell and confirms 1882 medal with clasp for The Nile, 1884-85. The Long Service Medal Roll shows William Henry Ansell but the surname is crossed out and changed to Hurrell. Medal engraved with a different service number, in a different style to the rest of the naming. Naming slightly worn on Egypt Medal. Pension Board statement states 2352 William Henry Hurrell, served 21 years, in India, Egypt, Soudan, Gibraltar and Malta

(Military Division) Order with group of eight medals comprising C.B, Distinguished Flying Cross with bar, 1939/1945 Star, Aircrew Europe Star with clasp for France and Germany, Defence Medal, War Medal with MiD emblem, 1953 Coronation Medal, Legion d'Honneur and Croix de Guerre with two palms, together with original MiD certificate, Croix de Guerre Citation, D.F.C. box with ribbon bars, photographs, Royal Air Force No 65 Squadron Golden Jubilee programme and speech given by Air Vice Marshall I J Spencer. Ian James Spencer was born 6th June 1916. Acting Pilot Officer September 1937 (General Duties), Flying Officer January 1940, Flight Lt. April 1941. Squadron Leader May 1941, Acting Wing Commander 1943. Acting Group Captain October 1956. Acting Air Commodore April 1961. Air Vice Marshal January 1966. Retired January 1968. Awarded D.F.C. 4 July 1941: 'In June 1941 this officer led a formation of aircraft which carried out an attack on an enemy merchant ship. In spite of intense anti-aircraft fire from this and other escorting vessels, Squadron Leader Spencer pressed home his attack from a low altitude and the formation succeeded in destroying the merchant vessel. After delivering the attack his aircraft received direct hits causing damage to the starboard engine and inner port petrol tanks, while Squadron Leader Spencer was hit in the leg sustaining a fracture in two places and his observer was wounded in the back. Despite his injury, S/L Spencer succeeded in flying his aircraft back to this country although the starboard engine and instrument panel were out of action. On a previous occasion S/L Spencer successfully bombed an enemy tanker off the Norwegian coast in the face of intense anti-aircraft fire, and although his port engine was disabled, he succeeded in flying his aircraft safely back to this country. He has shown great determination, courage and efficiency.' 110 Squadron. Bar to D.F.C. 14 April 1944. Awarded Croix de Guerre with palm 16 March 1945: 'Wing Commander Spencer, I.J. A Pilot of great skill, he led on several occasions over enemy-occupied territory, important formations of French and British bombers, with the skill and precision of his manoeuvers he ensured the success of these missions and thereby gained trust and general esteem. This citation is for the award of the Croix de Guerre with palm.' MiD 1 January 1946. C.B. awarded 8 June 1963. Served with 35 Squadron 1938. 110 Squadron 1941. 107 Squadron 1943. 88 Squadron 1944. RAF Staff College 1949. October 1960 he headed an Anglo-German inquiry incident when two German fighter jets buzzed a Comet which was flying the Queen home from Denmark. Air Attache, Switzerland 1950-53. Air Staff, HQ Second Tactical Air Force, Germany 1956-57. Air Officer Admin. HQ Transport Command 1961-64. Director, Air Secretary Directorate 1964-65. John Scott manned the Vickers and Browning machine guns alongside Paddy Mayne during the action which resulted in Mayne's 4th DSO.  With related ephemera including letter from Buckingham Palace for his Military Medal award, Mentioned in Despatches certificate, gazetted 8th November 1945; War Office letter of thanks for his service from the Army Council; Certificate of Service in the 1st Special Air Service Regiment from 14th February 1943 to 16th November 1945 in the Western Desert, Italy and North West Europe signed by Lt Colonel P Mayne, Commanding Officer; Special Boat Squadron - Squadron Orders No 121 of 18th December 1943 Item 278 Operational Wings reading ... the following NCO has been awarded his operational wings for distinguished service in Italy - 410861 L/Sgt Scott RAC; typed letter dated 12th December 1943 from Major Lord Jellicoe Special Boat Squadron 1st SAS Regiment MEF begins 'Dear General, requesting assistance in getting Sgt Scott back to his unit following his escape from a POW camp and subsequent return to said camp to assist other prisoners to escape, signed by Lord Jellicoe, with envelope addressed to Major General R E Laycock DSO; typed request dated 12th November 1943 naming Sgt Scott and two colleagues requesting 'every facility is given to enable them to reach their unit as quickly as possible'; reference letters from Lt Col Paddy Mayne dated 12th November 1945 in which he refers to the granting of an immediate commission for gallantry, Major J Verney fellow SBS officer and POW and Lt Col Lord Jellicoe, Coldstream Guards (Captain Scott applied for and was accepted as a King's Messenger, but did not take up the post); letter of thanks for his assistance from 'the boys' of the officer's mess Parachute Regiment Reserve Battalion, Aldershot dated 15th November 1946; copy correspondence relating to the issue of his Military Medal and Mentioned in Despatches emblem; copy statement submitted by the CINC Central Mediterranean Force in support of his recommendation for the Military Medal; hand drawn operational map for Southern Italy, with notes to reverse; his War Office map, sheet 29 Chiete, Italy, with pencil note top right 'pass to Scott'; relinquishment of commission letter dated 18th April 1947 from the War Office; correspondence from the Foreign Office regarding his application for a position as a King's Messenger; various early photographs including portrait examples from when Captain Scott was serving in the Royal Scots Greys, as an SAS Sergeant and as a commissioned officer; desert uniform squadron and group examples and regular army Certificate of Service 'red book'. After the war Captain Scott met his future wife in Belgium during the armistice and then worked for the family printing business. They subsequently moved to Toadsmoor, near Stroud in Gloucestershire to continue in the printing trade.

A group of Polish orders and medals, comprising Knight's Cross, Order of Polonia Restituta, Polish Cross of Merit in gold, lacking ribbon, and another in bronze, Medal of the Armed Forces in the Service of the Fatherland, in silver, and the Medal of the 40th Anniversary of People's Poland. The orders and medals were awarded to Cezary Kaminski. He was born in Janowa Dolina Gmina Kostopol, Wolyn - currently Ukrainian territory - on the 12th October 1925, and died in Bydgoszcz, Poland on the 10th June 2000. He worked as a civilian employee in the army and he received the medals and orders for his work in the military.
