A bowler hat by Lock & Co. Hatters St James`s Street London, two top hats by Herbert Johnson 38 New Bond Street London; one of black silk, the other grey in original cardboard boxes, a sailor`s cap by McLaren of Glasgow, a Defence Medal for service 1929-1945, etc Also an American fishing reel by Kalamazoo Tackle Co. and two old suitcases.
AN ALBERT MEDAL GROUP OF THREE, consisting of Albert Medal 2nd Class in bronze, WWI British War Medal and Victory Medal. The Albert Medal (2nd Class in bronze) in original fitted case (case A/F), engraved to the back "Presented by his Majesty to Arthur Eccleshall for Gallantry in Saving a Life at Bushbury Railway Station on the 2nd October 1908". BWM and Victory named "203972 PTE. A. Eclleshall S. Staffs R.".Note: Arthur Eccleshall was awarded the Albert Medal for saving the life of a child at Bushbury Railway Station on the 2nd October 1908. Three children were crossing the tracks when Albert saw a light engine approaching.Shouting to them, two cleared the tracks, the third, however, ran along the tracks in front. In response, Arthur jumped from the platform and managed to lift the child to safety before being struck by the engine, knocking him unconscious in the process. Albert went on to serve in WWI, and spent part of the war as a prisoner of war at Minden. He died in 1958 as a result of a heart attack, which he suffered while watching his beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers play at Molinuex, aged 69. With the group is also a small silver cross, engraved "Merit Medal, presented by Liverpool Weekly Post, to Arthur Eccleshall", together with an extensive array of related ephemera, to include a number of letters from the Home Office regarding the investigation and then eventual awarding of the Albert Medal, telegrams, newspaper clippings and original photographs of Arthur. Also included is a copy of `Brave Railwaymen by Allan Stainstreet` signed by the author and dedicated to the family of Arthur, dated 25/11/88 (the book gives a full account of the story and award of the Albert Medal)

A WWII Military Medal group of five to 3656474 Acting Sergeant J. Horrocks, South Lancashire Regiment, with a quantity of research and letters of recommendation, also the citation for the award detailing that Corporal Horrocks took park in an attack on the woods west of Overloon. His company came under heavy machine gun fire from the immediate front and right flank. The citation then goes on to read that Corporal Horrocks received wounds in his leg but carried on firing the LMG of the company, advancing and dragging himself along. His fire allowed his platoon to infiltrate forward where they found Corporal Horrocks to have fainted by the side of his gun.
An impressive Belgian group of 31 medals to an unknown soldier including a British MBE, the British Distinguished Service Order and a rare British silver Allied Subjects Medal (only 134 were issued in silver). According to Abbott & Tamplin, authors of "British Gallantry Awards", the Allied Subjects Medal was awarded for outstanding services at great risk giving assistance to British soldiers behind enemy lines. Recipients were mainly Belgian. Accompanying the medal group are a matching miniature group of medals (the miniature Knight of Leopold II is particularly rare with crossed swords between the crown), an armband of Order of Leopold, Belgian Senior Order, an armband of the Yser Cross, an armband of Knights With Swords in Belgian national colours, an armband of the vice president of the Knights With Swords, Verviers Section, a large brass embossed plate inscribed with the coat of arms of the "Knights With Swords", with a photograph of the unknown recipient wearing the medal group and an armband.
A WWII RAF casualty medal group of four to 185570 Pilot Officer J.A.Wynn, RAF Voluntary Reserves, comprising Air Crew Europe Star, France and Germany bar, 1939/45 Star, 1939/45 War medal and the Defence medal. Pilot Officer JA Wynn was killed in action on 29th November 1944 during a pathfinder mission in a Lancaster bomber. The medals come with original cardboard box.
