Irish War of Independence service medal and WWII group of six to Warrant Officer 2nd Class Michael McDonald, Golden Falls, Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare. McDonald served as a volunteer in 'B' Coy, Kildare Battalion, IRA during the War of Independence and as a Sergeant-Major in the Royal Tank Regiment in WWII. McDonald's Military Service Pensions Collection fie (ref. MD20229) notes his service in the British Army April 1939 - November 1949. See also lots 142 & 256.

Irish Olympic silver medalist, Irish international hockey cap. The green velvet and gilt bullion cap by T. Lynch & Sons, Westmoreland St. Dublin, with shamrock above crossed hockey sticks to the brow and dated 1907 and 1909. Named 'R. Gregg' to the lining. Richard George Stanhope Gregg (1883-1945) was an Irish international hockey player, he captained Dublin University Hockey Club 1st XI, 1906-07. He represented Leinster and Three Rock Rovers and was a member of the Ireland team that won the silver medal at the 1908 London Olympics.

Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA, Hurling, 1968, All-Ireland Junior final, 9ct gold winner's medal to Warwickshire, "Craobh Iomána Sóisir 1968 - Warwickshire", Dublin, 1968, maker's mark 'J.M'. The first of three Junior Hurling All-Irelands won by Warwickshire, they also won in 1968 and 1973.
Football, UEFA Cup, 1972 2nd round, 2nd leg, Club Brugge vs. FC Porto, Porto commemorative club medal; and 1978 quarter-final, 1st leg, FC Porto vs. Anderlecht, Porto commemorative club medal; and two FC Porto presentation pieces. Provenance: John Carpenter collection. By descent to the current owner. John Carpenter (1936-2021) was an Irish professional football referee who officiated in the League of Ireland from 1964 to 1984, as well as a FIFA international referee from 1969 to 1984. Carpenter took up refereeing in the early 1960s when a broken leg cut short his playing career with St Patrick's Athletic. He joined the League of Ireland panel in 1964. Carpenter had a distinguished career in European club competitions, refereeing 37 matches and culminating in the 1982 UEFA Cup Final. He refereed 15 full international matches between 1970 and 1983; and was a reserve referee for the 1974 FIFA World Cup. When the North American Soccer League was launched, Carpenter was one of a small number of European referees who were invited to officiate.

BALLANDS. 15-LOND.R.; together with his identity tags and a small archive of documents, photographs etc. including a statement by James Henry Balland of his experience while a POW, medal envelopes addressed to Balland, a "Twenty-Onners" veteran's club membership card, two photographs of Ballard, a copy of George V's letter to returning POW's and a very fine Queen Mary Christmas tin.
1914-18 Great War South Irish Horse trio to South Irish Horse, to 942 PTE. G. GRAY. S. IR. H. Comprising 1914 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. Born in Athboy Co. Meath Grey joined the South Irish Horse in 1914 and later served in the Dorset Yeomanry. He was killed in Palestine and is buried in the Haifa War Cemetery.
