A Second War Mosquito Night Fighter Pilot’s KIA group of three, to Flight Lieutenant Geoffrey Edgar Dunfee of 125 Squadron, comprising 39-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star with France and Germany Bar, 39-45 Medal, framed and glazed, together with certificate, letter from his Navigator, Flying Officer Brian Williams to Geoffrey’s brother, the famous Bentley Boy, Jack Dunfee, a letter from Wing Commander Leslie G. Scarman, a small press cutting listing Geoffrey as missing and a copy photograph of a family portrait of Geoffrey. On the night of 21st August 1944 off the Sussex coast, Flying a MKXVII de Havilland Mosquito Night Fighter, Registration HK291 the Pilot and his Navigator pursued a V-1 flying bomb through a barrage of our own anti-aircraft fire. The barrage damaged the port engine and wounded F/O Williams, Dunfee ordered him to bail out, landing in the sea. Flight Lieutenant Dunfee and his Mosquito were never seen again. Provenance: by descent through the family.

Air Crew Europe Star KIA Group of three, to 540271 SGT A. MCNEIL, comprising 39-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star and 39-45 Medal, contained in their box of issue, complete with compliments slip and medal inventory. Sold with a letter of sympathy from Wing Commander 97 (Straits Settlements) Squadron RAF, dated 3rd September 1942. Lancaster R5741 was flying on a mission to Saarbrucken, Germany when it experienced engine problems, last ordered to lighten its fuel load it was never heard from again.
