Top WW2 Navy ace Captain David McCampbell US multiple signed cover, He was Navy Ace 34 Victories. Also signed by Kenneth Ambrose Walsh Ace Victories WW11 with 21 enemy planes destroyed. David McCampbell became a naval aviator in 1934 but it wasn't until 1944 that he flew combat missions from the carrier USS Essex One of only two Navy pilots to be awarded the Medal of Honour, Captain David McCampbell ended the war with 34 aircraft shot down plus another 21 destroyed on the ground. His score of 34 made him the highest scoring Navy 'Ace' and the third highest scoring US pilot of World War II. McCampbell also received the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, Legion of Merit, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Backstamped Cathay Pacific 15 Sep 85 Hong Kong. Kenneth Ambrose Walsh was the fourth ranking United States Marine Corps Fighter Ace in WW11 with 21 enemy planes destroyed. At the time of the attack on pearl Harbour, he was a technical sergeant, becoming a Warrant Office in May 1942, and was commissioned a year later. He was also one of a handful of Marine aviators qualified as an aircraft carrier landing signal officer. Assigned to VMF -124, flew in 1st Vought F4U Corsair Sqn. The unit arrived at Guadalcanal in February 1943 He claimed his first three Japanese planes on April 1, 1943 and two more in his next combat, May 13, 1943, becoming the first Corsair ace. Walsh brought his score to 20 by the end of August 1943, he earned him the Medal of Honor. Walsh returned to combat in 1945, flying with VMF -222, scoring his last Victory l at Okinawa on June 22, 1945 Details Certified no 515 of 995. Good condition. He also served on the Wahoo, as executive officer and approach officer. He participated in more successful attacks on Japanese shipping than any other submarine officer during the war. Personally Signed by J A A Gibson 501 Sqn New Zealander Ace with 12 Victories in Hurricane. Battle of Britain Fighter Pilot. General Raymond Davis is a Past Assistant Commandant for the US Marine Corps. He fought on Guadalcanal and Peleliu in WW11 and later Vietnam. He received the Medal of Honor for his valour in the Chosen Reservoir Battle of Korean War. He remains one of the most decorated Marines of all Time. Colonel Jefferson J DeBlanc USMC Pilot Medal of Honor DFC Air Medals Purple Heart. In October 1942 ten days before VMF - 112 'Wolfpack' sailed for Solomon Islands to joined them. He entered combat 10 Nov 1942 with less them 10 hours in the F4F Wildcat. Member of Cactus Air Force. 31 Jan 1943 shot down 5 also shot down himself picked up by coast watchers network and returned 15 days later. for this action awarded Medal of Honor. WW2 Escape from Arnhem Signed General Sir J. Hackett plus 3 Resistance. 17. IX. 84 Arnhem 35 Postmark on Netherlands 60c Stamp. 40th Anniversary of Battle of Arnhem. Escape from Arnhem. Cover depicts Airborne forces landing by parachute & gliders at Arnhem, Royal Star and Garter badge and Medal. On 17 Sep 1944, the Battle of Arnhem began. 5000 Allied Aircraft took part in the landings in which the British 1st Airborne Division ( which included Polish Units) of 10095 landed 7605 were lost. Personally Signed by General Sir John Hackett DSO MC and 3 resistance members Dr. Elsa Caspers, Koos Meyer and Hen Idenburg. General Sir John Hackett DSO, MC. when he took part in the disastrous parachute landing on Arnhem in Holland, where the Germans were waiting. On the day before the survivors of the 1st Airborne Division were pulled out of Arnhem, Hackett was severely injured internally by a shell splinter. He was taken to a German military hospital and operated on by a captured Allied surgeon but was regarded as a hopeless case and marked down for kindly hypodermic euthanasia. On the first day he sat up to eat, a member of the Resistance told him that unless he could walk out in the next 15 minutes, he might not be able to get out at all. He escaped with his head in blood-soaked bandages to suggest a civilian air-raid casualty and was hidden by a Dutch family at risk to their lives. Later, he escaped by bicycle to freedom, his skill at languages enabling him to pass challenges from guards en route and 3 resistance members who helped the Brigadier. Dr. Elsa Caspers Resistance member of cell whose task was to sabotage and work for an intelligence service. After the War had to go back to school for another year, Koos Meyer joined the Albrecht Group made trips for liberated South Netherlands to the occupied North made 29 trips the group made 374. and Hen Idenburg member of the Resistance Brigadier Hackett stayed at Idenburg family safe house. Leather scabbard with engraved, brass mounts; cap with ivory gem sculpted with a king's face; leather with breakings at the girdle, with chape. Two suspension rings. length 74 cm.

dating: circa 1800 provenance: France, Smooth-bore, blued, three-stage, 14.5 mm. cal. barrels; octagonal breech decorated with bass-relieved leaf patterns and marked 'GAUVAIN PERE & FILS INV. & FEC. ARQUEBUSIERS A QANGRES AN 1800', the following part has sixteen faces, the last one is round with a ring at the nozzle (the first part, the rib and the nozzle ring are gold plated); the barrels' lower part is marked 'E. DURAND' and 'TONDU'; the barrels' base contains two pans with respective batteries and rotary safety lock; enclosed hammer lock sculpted with dragons and smooth lock plates with bass-relieved engraving remains on the tangs, on the left side is an opening for the oil with a cover; large engraved and gilded tang; checkered wooden stock decorated with faceted iron nails and smooth silver nails at the grip, sculpted in the shape of a dragon's head in the lower part; the grips are decorated with four high-relieved dragons at the borders and with gilded silver works, several engraved silver inlays picturing hunters, deer, hare, wild boar and silver garlands; iron mounts with floral-patterned chisels, sliding trigger guard, one trigger, underneath the barrels is a wooden pommel on a sliding band to release the second shot; iron-tipped wooden ramrod with iron cartridge extractor. Interesting double-barrelled flintlock gun of remarkable elegance and with a rare shooting system. On page 424 of the I volume of 'Der neue Stockel' is the famous gunsmith Alfred Gauvain, first artisan to be honored with a gold medal in 1849. He also sells one of his guns, displayed at a 1855 international exhibition, to the Russian Czar. Alfred Gauvain was probably a descendant or even the son of the Gauvain who manufactured this extraordinary gun. length 123 cm.
