Parker, 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, captured during WWII, later serving with the regiment in Korea and saw action at the Battle of Imjin River 1939-1945 Star, War Medal, Korea 1950-53, 1st Britt.Omn type (5184771 Pte W H Parker Glosters), later issues in named card box of issue, United Nations for Korea, extremely fine, with a collection of original paperwork including a black and white photograph of the recipient in Stalag VIIIB prisoner of war camp with Prisoner of War Post envelope addressed to the recipient, a reunion photograph of the recipient with service friends, a newspaper dated 24.7.1991 headlined 'Glorious Glosters' printed with a group photograph which includes the recipient in uniform annotated 'Grandad P' with an arrow, plus various copied research including service papers and debriefing report 5184771 Private William Henry Parker served with the Gloucestershire Regiment from 19.1.1939, served with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) with the 2nd Battalion, 48th (South Midland) Infantry Division from 1.10.1939, reported Prisoner of War after being captured at Cassel, Northern France 29.5.1940, posted as missing and sent to Stalag VIIIB, Trier (POW No.10776), released 10.5.1945 and admitted to Corse Hill Isolation Hospital, Swindon, re-joined 9.8.1950 and posted to the Wessex Brigade, served in Korea with the 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment from 1.10.1950, served with the regiment during the Battle of Imjin River, the Gloucestershire Echo report dated 29.10.1951 reports 'Pte. Parker was in the Imjin area, taking supplies to forward positions, but when the bitter three days' and nights' battle started, he, and others, were about four miles away. When the Chinese-Communists made a wider, enveloping circle, he and his fellow drivers made a dash with their laden trucks through enemy-held territory'. (4)

*WWII. A WWII DSM group to Able Seaman J Hayden, Royal Navy for Gallant and Distinguished Service in Special Operations, Distinguished Service Medal, G.VI.R. (A.B. J. Hayden. D/SSX. 29812), 1939-1945 Star, Atlantic Star with France & Germany bar, Defence and War Medals, good very fine with original letter from the Admiralty dated 31 August 1944 DSM. London Gazette 15.8.1944 "for gallantry and devotion to duty shown while serving with the 15th Motor Gun Boat Flotilla on special operations". Able Seaman John Hayden served during WWII with the Motor Gun Boat Flotilla, he was awarded his DSM on 15 August for service with 15 Motor Gun Boat for special operations, 15 MGB were established in 1942 to carry out Special Duties, from January to July 1944 the flotilla supported the Shelburn Escape Line extracting evaders from the French Coast, the 15th Flotilla supported the operations of SOE, SIS, MI9. Hayden was later killed whilst serving with MGB 002 on 12 May 1945 when the boat struck a mine at 03.45 at Kristiansand in Norwegian waters, all the crew were lost, Hayden is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial. Copra.), good very fine DSM London Gazette 25.1.1944 'For gallant and distinguished services in the assault on, and capture of Termoli in the face of heavy opposition from the enemy'. MID London Gazette 11.3.1941 'For good services of the coast of British Somaliland'. Sub-Lieutenant The Marquis of Milford Haven, RN of HMS "Kandahar" has submitted that "Earnest Gilbert Ham, Leading Seaman D/JX 130688 should be awarded for his service during the Army evacuation from Berbera on the night of 17/18th August for prompt action and good seamanship when, as coxswain of the motor cutter, he rescued soldiers and the crew of another motor cutter which had been swamped on Berbera Harbour in a short steep sea with force 6 wind blowing", HMAS Hobart Association (Queensland Division) refer. A group of items from the estate of Joseph Joylon Dean, comprising an unattributable WWII Military Cross group, Military Cross, G.VI.R., reverse officially dated '1945', 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star with 8th Army Bar, Italy Star, Defence and War Medals, 1953 Coronation Medal plus Officer's Territorial Decoration, G.VI.R., reverse engraved '1950' with G.VI.R., E.II.R. and Territorial award Bars, good very fine, mounted for wearing together with a Tropical jacket with three pips to epaulettes and Highland Division cloth insignia, brass buttons of the Royal Artillery and Ubique collar badges, the medal riband bar for 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star with 8th Army emblem, France & Germany Star, with Battle dress and Army great coat Provenance: From the estate of 7880890 Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant Joseph Joylon Dean Royal Artillery Corps, Royal Tank Regiment (1921-2010). Dean was awarded the British Empire Medal which was Gazetted in the 13 June 1946 Supplement. The group included with the lot was consigned from the same estate. Dean joined 51st Highland Division, he was injured twice in Sicily and then in Normandy where he was wounded in a mortar attack a day after he landed, the Guardian obituary quotes a 'he looked down at his bleeding chest and noticed he was wearing his shirt back to front', interestingly his father was Basil Dean the founder of Ealing Film Studios. Stothard (possibly from a design by Thomas Stothard), 1824, copper with dark brown patina, bust left with bead and reel border, reverse: lightening striking branches, lettered edge in Greek, one or two minor marks to rim of reverse, otherwise extremely fine, 64mm, late 19th century cream velvet mount and framed & glazed BHM 1231; Grueber 260/5. Possibly minted at the Royal Mint and dedicated by William Pickering and William Worthington. (1)

Nicholas I (1796-1855), Unveiling of his Equestrian Statue in St Petersburg, large copper medal by P Brusnitsyn 1859, obverse struck with bust facing left in armour with eagle topped helmet, the reverse with the statue and plinth 86mm diameter, extremely fine in original card box with manuscript label inscribed Medal Nicholas 1st Russia The statue was designed by Auguste Ricard de Monferrand who was also the architect of the St. Isaac's Cathedral. The monument shows a statue of Nicholas on a horse which balances only on its hind legs, the pedestal is decorated with allegorical figures sculpted by Nikolai Ramazanov and Robert Salemann, the figured which resemble the spouse and daughters of Nicholas I, represent Faith, Justice, Wisdom and Might. S. Marti & Cie were founded in 1832, they won medals at various exhibitions; 1860, bronze, 1889 silver, 1900 gold. From 1863 they worked with Japy Freres & Cie.

Count Michael d'Aguilar (British, 1924-2011) A large portfolio of watercolours of landscapes, both England and Europe watercolour, various sizes Other Notes: Michael d’Aguilar was born in 1922 in London to Spanish parents and he was the brother of artist Paul D’Aguilar. He studied at The Royal Academy Schools from 1948 - 1953 where he won numerous awards, including the Leverhulme Scholarship. He was a winner of the Royal Drawing Society’s Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and the Armitage and Silver Medal at the Royal Academy. D'Aguiler held successful one-man shows at the Temple Gallery in 1961, the New Grafton Gallery in 1971, the Southwell Brown Gallery in 1974, the Bruton Street Gallery in 1995 and his work was represented in the Bradford City Art Gallery. All unframed and with some creases and tears.
