* WWI Military Cross, unresearched Military Cross (Geo V, unnamed) and Victory Medal 1914/19 (Lieut C J Sharp), the MC in original box with cutting of citation glued inside lid, together with uniform medal ribbons for these medals and the missing British War Medal, named original box for the Victory (squashed), both medals extremely fine. Citation reads: Sec. Lt. C J SHARP, R.F.A., Spec. Res., attd. A./175th Bde - This officer was in a dug-out with another officer when a gas shell wrecked the structure and buried completely his companion. He went to the rescue, and although twice overcome by the fumes, he extricated him in spite of continuous shell fire, both gas and high explosive. He has on several occasions shown great gallantry in action. (1)

London Gazette, 8th March 1918; On the night of the 7/8th November 1918 at Avelghem, he reconnoitred and constructed a footbridge across Den Rijtgracht under bombing and heavy machine gun fire. It was due to his enterprise and courage that an advance across stream was made. He has on previous occasions shown great courage under difficult circumstances. * Royal Flying Corps/RAF MSM group of four. 1914/15 Star, British War Medal 1914/18, Victory Medal 1914/19, and George V RAF Meritorious Service Medal, awarded to 8028 2.A.M.E. Robinson. R.F.C. (on 14/15 star) 8028 Sgt. E.Robinson. RAF (on BWM & Victory and MSM), condition GVF. Edward Robinson was born near Skipton ,Yorkshire in 1895 and died in 1970. The medals come with a good photograph album containing original photographs of 2.A.M.E.Robinson in his RFC uniform together with many photos from No.7 Squadron RFC of aircraft, airships and aerial photographs, (29 in total). Also in the album is Mr Robinson’s gold wrist watch which is engraved on the reverse and was given to him by his mother on his 21st birthday. The album has a pair of RFC cloth pilot’s wings inset to the cover. (-)

F.E.Webber. 2/W.York R. (on 1914 star) 8468 Cpl. F.E.Webber. York. R. (on BWM & Victory), Memorial plaque named Frederick Ernest Webber, condition GVF. Together with the medals is a framed photograph of Webber, plus a City of York Condolence letter from the Lord Mayor of York, Memorial scroll, Buckingham Palace memorial letter and outer card cover for death plaque. Corporal Webber was born in London and was killed in action on the 30th October 1914. His name is on the Menin Gate Memorial with details. (4)

K.Ross served with F2 Detachment as part of No-23 Group. F2 Detachment was based in Slaley, Northumberland as part of No-23 Durham Group. (4)

* Roberts (Field Marshal Frederick Sleigh, 1st Earl of Kandahar, Pretoria and Waterford, 1832-1914). Coalport commemorative china plate. South African War; Field Marshal Lord Roberts, V.C. & his Principal Commanding Officers, Boer Ultimatum 10th October 1899, blue and white plate with gilt decorative glaze, descriptive inscription on verso of plate, diameter approx. 260mm, mounted on a velvet background, framed and glazed with ‘cut out’ on verso to allow sight of the legend. The plate shows a head and shoulders portrait of Roberts set into the silhouette of the Victoria Cross. The Medal has the names of the major battles of the campaign. The borders have a ribbon running around the rim carrying the names of the principal officers serving during the Boer war, interspersed with a martial motive of crossed sword and rifle surmounted by a pith helmet. Probably made in 1900 to commemorate the ending of the Boer war. (1)

Two large brass French Eagles, one with lightning rods at base, the other with cannons at the base and surmounted by a crown, no visible signs of lugs or fastenings to the reverse, each approx. 14cm tall, together with a commemoration bronze medal for the death of Jean-Sylvain Bailly [1793], obverse with a right-facing bust of Bailly and exergue legend that reads ‘offert a la ville par B. Duvivier’, the reverse with the legend ‘Merite Reconnu’ at upper edge, text concerning Bailly beneath within a floral border, sl. rubbed, 42mm diameter, remains of red, white and blue ribbon still attached, plus two printed French manuscripts with manuscript insertions and wax seals, the first dated 15th July 1757, relating to Le Chevalier du Chatelet & Marechal de Camp, signed by Louis Gabriel, Bailly de Froullay, one page, folio, the second dated 14th February 1801, relating to Alexandre Joseph Pascal and signed by Charles Ferdinand, duc de Berry, one page, oblong folio (5)

CARLO BUGATTI, WALNUT ARMCHAIR, CIRCA 1900, with embossed copper decorations, the rectangular back covered in vellum and painted with a frieze of poppies, supported by turned uprigghts on a studded vellum seat on crossed vellum covered supports, 60cm wide, 104cm high, Note: Carlo Bugatti was born in Milan on 16 February 1856. Although he worked with ceramics, musical instruments, silverware, and textiles, he is best known for his furniture designs. The first show of Bugatti furniture was at the 1888 Fine Arts Fair in Milan. Influenced by Gothic, Moorish and Oriental styles, Bugatti used inlays of exotic woods, copper, pewter and vellum in his designs. In the summer of 1888 his work was displayed at the Italian Exhibition at Earls Court in London, his first international show. His furniture was awarded an honorary prize at this exhibition and his characteristic furniture style began to find avid devotees around the world. In New York, the Waldorf Astoria’s Turkish Salon was furnished with Bugatti pieces. Further shows followed in Amsterdam and Antwerp, and international newspaper reports and reviews contributed to his growing fame. A World War One group of four Medals, named 43644, Gnr/Sjt/Cpl. John Milligan, Royal Garrison Artillery comprising: British War Medal and Victory Medal (Sgt), 1914-15 Star (Gnr) and Military Medal (Cpl) London Gazette mentions M.M on 6/1/17, accompanied by transmission envelope addressed to Mrs.E.Milligan, copies of details from a family scrapbook including a mention regarding his M.M from his Commanding Officer, ` given for good example and service in the field, and devotion to duty. The special incident which clinched the matter was the laying of a wire under very difficult circumstances, owing to the state of the ground, (the mud being up to the knees) under intermittent shell-fire in the open, the trenches being blown in, and bringing back his party safely, some members of which were entirely exhausted.` Also a Special Constabulary Long Service Medal in case of issue awarded to James H Spencer (relative of the Milligan family)
A World War One Military Cross GVR, unnamed and in original case of issue and a Military Medal GVR, named for 2018 Pte/2nd Liut. Francis Sydney Milligan, 2/1st West Lancashire Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. M.M awarded 1916 and London Gazette citation for the M.C reads `For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Though wounded early in the attack, he took command of his company, and gallantry led them against the enemy`s position, which he captured. He refused to leave his company, and held his position successfully for two days. His great courage and coolness set a magnificent example to all ranks`, accompanied by contemporary paperwork and copies of newspaper articles
