British Army Crimea medal with clasp for Sebastopol named to 1708 James Johnson 13th Light Dragoons. Pte Johnson joined the 13th Light Dragoons on the 13th August 1855, transferred to the 3rd Dragoon Guards in 1857 and was discharged in 1877 after being deemed 'unfit for further service from a leg ulcer', as a result of being kicked by a horse whist on duty in the riding school at Colchester. He served with the 'columns' for 23 years and 26 days.

Two WWII Third Reich first pattern Wehrpasses, one to Unteroffizier in the Luftwaffe, who completed 4 years service in 1939, later rejoined the Luftwaffe, was awarded Reich Sports badge and 4 years Long Service Medal in 1939, together with a Good Conduct Certificate; the second to a Medical Doctor, who joined the Army in 1936, served in numerous different hospitals, saw service in Russia 1941-43, ending as a Captain in the Medical Corps, was awarded War Merit Cross 2nd Class with swords and Russian Front Medal, received Wehrmacht Fuhrerschein in 1941 and after the war was granted an Exemption Certificate to return his medal instruments and furniture so that he could continue his practice, both of these documents are with the Wehrpass; also two WWI and two WWII death cards, a post card of troops marching and a photograph of troops marching "at ease" behind a standard bearer. He first moved to London in 1963 to study Law, but later began a career in the arts. He is a successful artist and important commissions include his busts of former Jamaican Prime Minister Sir Alexander Bustamante, the cricketer Gary Sobers, the writer and historian C L R James, the politician Lord Pitt, and the writer and publisher John La Rose. Lloyd is an author of books for children and teenagers. His novel 'Many Rivers to Cross' (1995) was nominated for the Carnegie Medal, and he has also worked as a successful book illustrator. Lloyd was a key contributor to the Caribbean Artists' Movement and has supported many other organisations such as the Minorities' Arts Advisory Service.Condition ReportFramed size: 33 x 25.5cmUnexamined out of glazed frame, time staining to the sheet, it has slipped in mount slightly to right showing this lighter patch on left edge, no other obvious condition issues.
