His score of 34 made him the highest scoring Navy 'Ace' and the third highest scoring US pilot of World War II. McCampbell also received the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, Legion of Merit, and the Distinguished Flying Cross Good condition. Willi Batz and Hubert Zemke signed cover. Rare Hans Rossbach variation of the 1975 Air Display Vintage Pair cover signed by Luftwaffe ace Willi Batz (237 victories) and US Ace Hubert Hub Zemke. Zemke was an incredible man: General Jimmy Doolittle praised him as "his greatest fighter group commander". He commanded the 56th Fighter Group in England which was known as Zemke's Wolf Pack. Captured in 1944, during an Allied attack on the train he was being transported in after interrogations, he saved the lives of two German girls and was nearly awarded a Nazi medal for bravery! Due to the respect he earned from his interrogator, he was made Senior Allied Officer at Stalag Luft I, in command of the 7,000 Allied prisoners there! He negotiated the safe return of all the POWs after VE Day. An incredible man... alongside all these brave feats, he somehow managed to notch up 17.75 aerial victories! Photos and information inside the cover, and numbered 4 of 14. Good condition. All items come with a Certificate of Authenticity and can be shipped worldwide.
