Lindsay enlisted in 1906 and served in the ranks of Kings Own throughout WW1, he was awarded the Military Medal in 1916 , and Mentioned in Despatches 1915, 1916, and 1917, after promotion to Warrant Officer he was commissioned in 1927, posted to 6th Battalion in 1940, he served with the Battalion in France and was evacuated from Dunkirk  on 1st June, saw no further active service in WW2, promoted Brevet Lieutenant Colonel July 1944, died 19th March 1963

Houghton, The Kings Own', together with a First World War Silver War Badge, number 383089, still pinned to the Certificate as issued to 'Major The Reverend W. Houghton, Royal Lancaster Regiment, the items belonged to Major, The Reverend, William Houghton Kings Own (Royal Lancaster) Regiment and comes direct from family, (William Houghton was born 1st June 1859 in London, he attended the Royal Military College Sandhurst in 1879 and was commissioned 14th January 1880, into the 4th Regiment of Foot (later The Kings Own (Royal Lancaster) Regiment), he appears to have spent much of his service in India, speaking Hindustani and indeed, marrying his wife Anastasia Christina at Bombay in 1894, he also served in Hong Kong and the Straights Settlements, in 1902 he attended the Coronation of King Edward VII as part of the detachment representing the Infantry of the Line, promoted Major in 1903 he retired from the Army in 1907, he presumably returned to the Colours in on the outbreak of war in 1914 though the only record we can find of this is the award of the Silver War Badge, number 383089, it being sent to North Newton Vicarage, Nr Bridgewater, Somerset, William Houghton passed away at Taunton on 16th June 1922)
