A Great War casualty medal and document group, comprising a single British War medal to 210842 Pte Ernest Exley, Labour Corps, a number of silk postcards and a large quantity of official and other documents, "Private Exley, [originally of Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire] 876th Area Employment Company, was found dead near ROMESCAMPS (OISE) on 14/11/18...Apparently he dropped down dead whilst out walking..He was buried in the Communal Cemetery, BLARGIES on 17/11/18 - plot 2, row "C", Grave No 13". Included in the group is a poignant correspondence relating to Exley's widow's fruitless appeals to be granted a War Widow's pension.
