A silver spoon by Leslie Durbin, London 1949, the oval bowl with a heavy and long rat-tail to the reverse, the stem with reeded bands, monogrammed, 18cm (7in) long, 62g (2 oz) gross. Leslie Durbin (1913-2005) was apprenticed to Omar Ramsden. He taught at the Royal College of Art and at the LCC Central School. His first workshop was established with Leonard Moss in 1949. Durbin designed the Queen`s head Jubilee mark. He has been awarded many honours including Member of the Royal Victorian Order, CBE and the Garrard Gold Medal for outstanding contribution to the trade. A retrospective of his work, `Fifty Years of Silversmithing`, was held at the Goldsmiths Hall in 1982. Visit www.dnfa.com for condition reports.
