An early Victorian mahogany pedestal sideboard by Arthur Blain & Son from Liverpool, Model 599 (stamped), circa 1840, quarter gallery back on an inverted front over one long frieze drawer flanked by twin short drawers, raised on twin cupboards enclosing a single shelf over a wine storage drawer, pedestals united by another drawer, raised on a plinth feet. 125cm H x 184cm W x 62cm DNote:Arthur Blain who established the cabinet making business in the William IV period of 1835, at 35 Paradise Street, Liverpool. The earliest examples are stamped with just A Blain Liverpool and the later Victorian pieces carry the A Blain & Sons stamp. Arthur Blain died in 1868 when the business was continued by Arthur’s son, William Hughes Blain who died in 1909. Their works were recorded in ‘The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers’, 1660-1840, by Beard & Giblert, Maney 1986.Provenance:The content of Wartnaby Castle in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, the property is mentioned Nicholas Pevsner's The Building of England and noted as a substantial house in the Little Belvoir Estate built in 1839 and enlarged in the mid 19th century.
A group of miniature cabinet items to include Meissen style tea cup with blue cross swords, miniature Coalport tankard, a Trentham Hall (Staffordshire) miniature mug, another small, floral cup, a powder shaker bearing Worlock Collection label (probably Spode) a Spode miniature blue and white transfer printed filigree design chamber pot, another blue and white inkwell and cover and a Spode miniature blue and white transfer printed miniature sauce boat bearing Audrey White Collection label. (8)(B.P. 21% + VAT) Coalport design tankard is cracked. Meissen style cup lacks saucers. Other floral unmarked cup is cracked. Chamber pot has a hair crack. Other items scuffed and worn.
Five Royal Crown Derby 1128 Imari pattern cabinet plates, three with date cypher for 1975 and two with date cypher for 1986 (one marked as second quality), each 27cm diameter (5) CONDITION REPORT:One plate shows some small but deep scratches and pockmarking to the gilt finish. Another shows rubbing to the border of one of the petal motifs in the well. The remaining three plates show minor rubbing to the gilt. None of the plates show chips, cracks or losses. None appear to be marked as seconds.

An Ercol style blonde elm side cabinet, mid 20th century, the fall front above an arrangement of four short drawers opposed by a cupboard door, 117cm H x 97cm W x 46cm D Condition reportLater re-varnished, later catch on cupboard door with a small recess in the top of the cupboard door where the original catch has been removed, no key to the fall front.Overall condition is good with all drawers running smoothly, little or no play in the leg joints, although the cabinet has undergone a degree of restoration.

A 19th Century Flemish simulated scarlet tortoiseshell, ebony and ivory inlaid architectural cabinet on a stand:, bordered with ivory lines, the upper part with ripple mouldings, surmounted by a caddy top hinged box compartment, fitted with ten small drawers with applied gilt metal bandings about a central architectural compartment with mirrored and pillared back, framed by ten small drawers and with a parquetry floor, containing a single long drawer below, the stand with an arcaded apron on turned and fluted tapered legs, united by curved flattened X-frame stretchers, terminating in bun-shaped feet, the stand 112cm (3ft 8in) wide, 172cm (5ft 7 3/4in) overall height.
