Tan uniform.A South African attorney, military man and politician, Jan Christian Smuts (1870 - 1950) served as a member of the British War Cabinet in World War I and was one of the authors of the Covenant of the League of Nations. In 1945, after again serving the Allies in World War II, Smuts is credited with writing the preamble to the Charter of the United Nations. Photographer and master of light, Falk opened his photography studio in 1881 on 949 Broadway in New York. Two photos by Falk are done in cabinet card portrait style with thicker cardstock material, but are larger than typical portrait card photos. Both of Falk s photos are housed in transparent yellow tone protective sleeve. Another photo of a woman in embellished hat and fur boa includes black custom border and thick cardstock material.
