An Art Deco figured walnut drinks cabinet, having single hinged top with further removable section, fitted interior lined with Birds Eye maple, opposing single short drawer to square block supports, h.67.5cm, w.68cm, d.48cm Condition Report / Extra Information Some fading to timber throughout.One drawer handle slightly loose.Very small loss to veneer at top edge of join line near keyhole.Generally good overall condition.
A 19th century Dutch floral marquetry sideboard, fitted with a drawer and pair of panelled cupboard doors flanked by pilasters. Width 97 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Width 97 cm, depth 46.5 cm, height 76.5 cm. The top is flat with no significant lifting to any of the veneers. There is an old veneer repair to the top right hand front corner and top right hand rear corner. There are numerous old scuffs, scratches and marks to the top of the piece and a few very minor losses to the marquetry. The colour is generally good. The drawer is in reasonable condition with no significant damage to the front. There is an old stress fracture to the left hand corner inlaid spandrel. The handles are in our opinion later replacements. The lock escutcheon similarly. The panelled doors close as they should and are not warped. There are various small marquetry losses and various old stress fractures but no real problems with the doors. The side supports and plinth base are in generally good condition. The right hand side of the cabinet is in generally good order. The left hand side of the cabinet is also of good colour and in generally good order but with a stress fracture to the rear of the carcass. The plinth base is in generally good condition with the usual scuffs that one would expect from an item of this age. The backboards are original. We cannot see any evidence of any woodworm. One of the drawer runners is detached but we have the piece.
A Georgian mahogany bedside cabinet, with tambour fronted door. Width 48 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top gallery is in good structural condition with no damage. The top of the cabinet has various old scratches, scuffs and watermarks but is not cracked or otherwise damaged. The tambour fronted door operates as it should and is undamaged. The drawer is in good condition generally but the handle is none original and there is a circular repair to the front right hand side of the current handle. The fretwork pilasters are in good condition. The sides of the piece have stress fractures along the plank joins. The bottom moulding is intact all the way round all. All four legs are in good order with no repairs or restoration. There are obviously old scuffs and scratches as one would expect.
A 19th century Dutch painted corner cabinet, decorated with a still life, vase of flowers. Width 51 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cupboard is in generally good order. There is no structural damage, no evidence of any woodworm and no repairs or restoration. The door shuts as it should. We have the key for the lock. There are some minor stress fractures in the timber but no significant issues. The cupboard could be used in its current state without the need for any repairs or restoration.
A George III mahogany bijouterie chest, with lift up glazed top, the front fitted with two drawers but modelled as five, with brass drop handles and raised on tapered legs of square section. width 58 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally good condition. The plate glass top has chamfered edges and only very minor surface scratches. The outer mahogany frame and boxwood stringing is all in good order. We have a key for the cabinet but are currently unable to open the lock. All drawer fronts are in good condition with no significant issues and the handles all appear to be original. The sides of the piece are in good condition as is the back. All four legs are in good condition with no repairs. There are minor scratches but really the piece is in extremely good order. it should not be too difficult to open the lock.
A late Victorian satinwood side cabinet, fitted with two drawers with brass drop handles and with a pair of cupboard doors with centre ovals and raised on bracket feet. Width 94 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This cabinet is in generally very good condition. The top is flat and not warped. The edge moulding is in good condition. The drawer and cupboard fronts are all in good order and operate as they should. The left hand door has a very slight stress cracks which is not open across the join in the middle of the door. In our opinion this is not problematic. The bracket feet are all in good condition and original. The backboards are also original. There is no evidence of any woodworm. We have called the cabinet late Victorian. It is probably best described as Edwardian.
An 18th century Italian small commode, with marble top, fitted with two drawers and raised on tapered legs of square section. Width 54 cm. CONDITION REPORT: In our opinion the marble top is a later replacement. The cabinet is in generally good condition but has clearly passed through a workshop in fairly recent times. The top left and right hand corners of the edge moulding have been replaced. There are one or two small losses to the left hand return moulding. The sides of the piece are in generally good order with old surface scuffs and scratches. The drawer fronts have all had small repairs to the corners and small sections of crossbanding have been replaced. There are nibbles and repairs to all corners. The legs are generally solid without any breaks. The piece has been re-polished. The handles are actually keys and are later replacements as are the lock escutcheons. The locks themselves are old but probably not original. There is no evidence of any woodworm that we can see.
A George III mahogany tray top type bedside cabinet, with single door and raised on four turned legs. Width 32 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The gallery is in good order with no losses or breaks. The top itself is a little stained and has some ring and old watermarks. The door has stress cracking to the veneers on the right-hand side above and below the knob handle. The knob handle is missing its backplate. Where the door handle meets the side support there is a small loss. The sides of the piece are in generally good order with only minor scuffs and scratches. The rear legs are in good condition with no damage. The front right hand leg has had an old break at the bottom which has been effectively repaired and is not particularly visible unless inspected closely. The left hand front leg is sturdy but there appears to be a repair at the top of the turning where this meets the corner segment of the carcass. The cabinet is perfectly serviceable simply a little tired.
Fourteen cabinet cups and saucers, various, including Coalport, Shelley, etc. CONDITION REPORT: The Melba bone china cup with the green top band and roses has a 2 cm hairline crack. The violet cup with the tall pierced loop handle has a similar 2 cm hairline crack. The saucer also has a 3 cm hairline crack. There is a small firing mark to the underside edge of one of the Coalport Hazelton pattern gilt and white saucers. There is rubbing to the gilding on the gold coloured cup & saucer. There is some rubbing to the interior gilding of the purple cup. All other pieces in this lot are in good order with no condition issues.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany standing corner display cabinet, with moulded cornice above a ribbon and swag frieze, with glazed door with scrolling astragals flanked by flat pilasters being satinwood banded and raised on tapered legs of square section united by a low shelf and terminating in spade feet. Width 69.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Width across cornice 70 cm, height 186 cm, depth 38 cm. The condition of the cabinet is generally very good, there is no evidence of any repairs or restoration. The cornice has some minor scuffs and nibbles as do the edges of the main body of the carcass. These are minimal and would easily be solved with a light polish. The glass is all in good order. The door is not warped. The legs and shelf are in good condition with no damage, there is no evidence of any woodworm. The interior shelves and lining are in basically good condition.
A Regency mahogany hanging corner cupboard, with moulded cornice, crossbanded frieze and well figured panelled door flanked by canted angles and with moulding beneath. Width 81 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Depth front to back 47 cm, depth of sides excluding cornice 48 cm, including the cornice 52.5 cm. The cupboard is in generally good order. The cornice has a very tiny loss to the top left front edge which is not problematic. The frieze is in good order. The canted angles have minor veneer losses right at the rear edge. The door is in good condition and not warped. There are some minor water splashes. The base moulding has small nibbles and losses to the front left and front right just below the corners of the doors and further under edge losses to the rear of the returns. The interior of the cupboard is green and gilt painted. Much of this painting is scuffed and marked but there are no real condition issues inside. There are numerous holes in the rear of the cabinet where it has been wall mounted. The lock and key operate as they should. The backboards are original.
