A Victorian Mahogany Collector's Cabinet, of rectangular form, with six graduated drawers enclosed by a hinged stile, containing a collection of ninety glass paperweights depicting British Views, Exhibitions, Christmas Scenes, and people of notoriety including Prince Albert, General Havelock and William Shakespeare. A fine Meissen pierced cabinet plate circa 1860-80 painted with a hunting scene set in a italicized landscape after the Dutch 17th century painter Wouwerman, within an elaborate gilt rocaille frame against a pink ground, the pierced and shaped borders with scrolling flowers crossed swords in underglaze-blue, impressed 14 and 79 and incised No:63, inscribed Wouvermann in black script 25.3cm., 10in. Philip Wouwerman (1619-1668) was a student of Frans Hals before moving to Hamburg in 1638 where he studied with Evert Decker. After his return to Holland he devoted. himself to genre paintings. At this time, already a very successful painter, he was able to leave his daughter the large amount of 20.000 guilders for her dowry. The painters of Hollands 'Golden Century' proved a popular subject in the second half of the 19th century when many of the most famous paintings of the era were copied to porcelain plaques and plates.

A rare Nantgarw miniature taperstick circa 1820 the cylindrical form with spreading circular base, painted with pink roses and buds beneath a foliate gilt border unmarked 4.5cm., 1.75;in. high small chip to rim A taperstick of similar form with an additional row of beading is illustreated by R.Williams, Nantgarw Porcelain 1813-12, p.35, fig.90. The author observes that the unusual handle is taken from the loop of a griffon handle as found on small cabinet cups.

A late Victorian oak open bookcase cabinet in the manner of Richard Norman Shaw, with carved panels and bevelled mirrors, the shelves around a central cupboard with a shelf, enclosed by a pair of doors with panels of carved masks, foliage and swags, surrounded by geometric mouldings and fluted side pilasters, the plinth base on ribbed capped ball feet. 6ft. 10in. (2.08m.) long.
