An elaborate Japanese Tansu style carved and brass inlaid wood cabinet, possibly a type of rosewood, early 20th century, decorated throughout with birds, foliate, dragons and scrolls, the door panels decorated with landscapes, with an arrangement of cupboard doors, drawers and shelves, on cabriole legs, 183cm H x 132cm W x 41cm D (as found) CONDITION REPORT: The large door to the right hand side is lacking the original handle and is simply placed into position, it will need a little attention to make it fit into its slots. Two of the carved dog finials are lacking. The central upper drawer does open but the shelf above this is loose at the front and the back and may need some attention. The drawer below the lower alcove does not open and the wood moulding is damaged a little. Metal mounts with general age wear tarnishing. General age wear patina and grubby throughout. Some loose threads of metal inlay. When the cabinet was delivered the base section was in several sections. It has been glued and put back together previously but will need further attention to the base and upper frame to secure the cabinet better.
