A Substantial Microscope & Microscope Slide Cabinet, Substantial Microscope & Microscope Slide Cabinet, English, late 19th early 20th century, unsigned but in the style of cabinets produced by R & J Beck, the French polished solid mahogany cabinet with central microscope display behind glazed door flanked by 72 drawers to each side, each draw holding up to 36 slides, with three large drawers below, cabinet signed to the inside of the centre drawer, ‘Fred Dishley’, cabinet 105cm wide, Frederick Dishley joined the Manchester Microscopy Society in 1906 and he was elected Hon. Secretary from 1909 to 1915, and subsequently he was elected vice-President in 1916. His particular interest was slide mounting techniques and he served on the Mounting Section of the M.M.S. committee throughout his membership
