A coin or medal cabinet formed from a repurposed Oak box on stand, the box with a rectangular lid with chamfered edge above a front and sides with stop-fluted arcading and low-relief carving, converted to rise, the interior fitted with 61 varied recesses, with two trays for 72 coins and two shallow graduated drawers with 60 divisions. The box on turned legs with rectangular stretchers. 82cm high, 67cm wide and 36cm deep. *CR: scuffs to surfaces, slight loss to areas. *BP 22.5% (18.75% plus VAT) plus a lot fee of £8 inc. A composite suite of black lacquered furniture decorated with faux Chinese scenes, some possibly by Mapple and co early 20th century, to include a two-door cabinet on cabriole-legged stand, oval topped spider legged table two nests of intersliding tables, low needlework table, a pair of side chairs, circular and square occasional tables and three standard lamps. Together with a Chinese black lacquered side table.PLEASE ALSO SEE EXTENSIVE ONLINE IMAGES FOR FAULTS.The cabinet is missing its back and has a vacant interior which has some rough bare wood on the rear of the interior. Some joints opening up. A split next to the lower right door hinge, top right hinge requires screwing back. Some age splits, but still an attractive piece.The circular topped table has patches of decoration missing from the top, otherwise structurally sound.
A Japanese muted brown lacquer Tansu, Meiji, early 20th century, with engraved brass corners and fittings, the cabinet with eight drawers in sizes and a pair of sliding doors and a hinged cupboard door all decorated with maki-e Laquer mons and eagles in low relief and inset with blue and white Hirado porcelain panel, supported on a base with shaped bracket supports. 70 cm wide x 41 cm deep x 109 cm overall height.A fine 31cm vertical split to the rear. There are knocks, dents and scuff marks throughout commensurate with age. The majority of flaws can be seen in the online images. Lots of the pins securing the mounts and hinges are loose in their mount or slightly proud. Scuff marks and shallow losses around the base, cracks to the lacquer feet on the Tansu and its stand. The lacquer on the top has some scuff marks but not too obvious, the top is under a sheet of plate glass and the material pads on the glass have partially transferred to the top of the lacquer.
