A group of three Sevres porcelain cabinet portrait bust plates, late 18th century, decorated against an ivory ground with gilt scroll highlights and centrally with busts of Louis XV, Marie Antoinette, and Louis XVI, all signed by G. Periers, with black painted titles verso, blue interlaced L factory mark, centered with 'BB' date mark for 1779, and below with 'S' gilders mark for Mereaud aine, Pierre-Antoine, a/f Louis XV plate damaged but pieces present, 23cm diameter. A mid 20th century oak smoker's cabinet, with lift lid, single glazed door and single drawer, 15.5 by 14.5 by 32.5cm high, together with a purple glazed pottery tobacco jar and lid, separate two pipe stand, and five pipes, some briarwood, including The Bisley, Barling and a Peterson's pipe with silver collar. Albertus Verhoesen (Dutch, 1806-1881), Peacock, Cockerel and Chickens by a Ruin and Cockerel and Chickens by a Ruin, a pair of oils, each signed lower left, on panel, framed. 13cm by 17cm. Note: The depiction of farmyard animals has had one of the longest traditions in Dutch and Flemish art, reaching its most widespread popularity in the 19th century. Born in Utrecht, Verhoesen received his formal training in the studios of Bruno van Straaten, Jan van Ravenzway, Pieter van Os and Barend Koekkoek. Van Os had the greatest influence on his choice of subject matter. Like his master, Verhoesen often chose to paint small cabinet pictures of groups of birds or animals in rural landscapes of which this pair is a typical example.
A pair of 19th century Sevres porcelain cabinet plates decorated with the Imperial Coat of Arms of the French First Empire (1804-1815), each 23.5cm diameter CONDITION REPORT: There is wear to the gilding on the rim of both plates. The plate with the pink border has an area of glue to the base with remains of printed paper attached, and incised mark also. The other plate has an indistinct worn green painted mark to the interior of the base rim. Otherwise condition good - no damage
