A mid-Victorian ebonised marquetry inlaid specimen cabinet, circa 1885, the kingwood and burr walnut inlaid door bearing central inset circular bone disk inscribed for Harold Summers Buckley, June 10th 1886, enclosing an arrangement of drawers each with bone pulls, 67.5cm high, 38cm wide, 22.5cm deep, John & J.A Venn, Alumni Cantabrigienses: A Biographical List of All Known Students Volume 2 (1752-1900) p.432 state that Harold Summers Buckley (born June 10th 1880) was the son of Abel Buckley of Rycroft Hall, Audenshaw, (the liberal politician and MP for Prestwich). The Irish Probate Calendars of 1914 state he died on the 29th of July 1911, being late of Whiteknights, Earley, Berks. It is unknown why this specimen cabinet may have been given as a present to commemorate his sixth birthday
