In der Platte signiert, datiert, betitelt und bezeichnet. Prägnanter, detailreicher Druck auf Bütten, mit kleinem Rand um die Einfassungslinie und breitem Unterrand mit vollständiger Schrift. 16,7 x 21,4 cm (6,5 x 8,4 in), Blattgröße. Eines der repräsentativen Hauptwerke Chodowieckis, das die ganze Finesse im filigranen Radierduktus des Künstlers deutlich macht.Die Mutter des Künstlers Chodowiecki, geb. Henriette Ayrer in Danzig, bat ihren Sohn um eine Zeichnung von seinen Kindern, ihren Enkeln. Zunächst begann er zu zeichnen, entschloss sich dann aber dazu, eine Radierung anzufertigen. Man sieht seine fünf Kinder Jeannette, Susette, Henriette, Isaac Heinrich und Wilhelm an einem Tisch stehend und sitzend, links die Gattin zwischen den älteren Kindern. An der hinteren Wand des Zimmers hängen zahlreiche Gemälde. Rechts sitzt Chodowiecki selbst am Fenster und zeichnet die Familienszene.
