A mid 19th century Killarney ware arbutus wood table cabinet of rectangular form, the moulded hinged lid with raised central tablet depicting Glena Cottage within an oval reserve framed by chequered banding, the slightly sloped lid edges decorated with trails of acorns and shamrocks within a chequered frame, lid underside bears harp and shamrock inlaid panel above a purple lined storage compartment, twin doors - the right decorated with an inlaid oval panel depicting Ross Castle, the left depicting Muckross Abbey - opening to reveal a three drawer section, each with turned roundel handles, side sections decorated with framed shamrock design, on outswept base with centralised chequered banding, 9½in. (24.25cm.) high, 11½in. (29.3cm.) wide, 7½in. (19cm.) deep. * Glena Cottage is a much used feature in Killarney ware, famous by virtue of the fact that Queen Victoria had lunch here during her 1861 visit to Killarney. See Illustration

A Victorian papier-mâché sewing cabinet of upright rectangular form, the hinged scalloped edged lid decorated with inlaid mother of pearl rush and foliate spandrels each containing a hand painted floral oval reserve, the lid centred with a raised panel with incuse corners with a hand painted topographical scene of an Italian lake, lifting to reveal a fitted interior containing a matched collection of sewing tools, comprising; six mother of pearl ivory reels, four mother of pearl silk winders, scissors with gilt highlighted decoration and three mother of pearl stilettos, above double doors each with mother of pearl and gilt decoration surrounding raised oval reserves with trefoil crowns at cardinal points containing conforming hand painted lake scenes, opening to reveal four half width drawers set between top and bottom full width drawers each with decorated wrigglework borders, the sides decorated with a bright handpainted and mother of pearl inlaid floral spray within a gilt frame, seated on an outswe t shaped cavetto base with mother of pearl rush and foliate inlay, 12 x 9¼in. (30.5 x 25.5cm.), 12½in. (31.75cm.) high. See Illustration
