A Korean cabinet, incorporating three pairs of panel doors, and with brass mounts with engraved decoration, 107 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB From a local private client, which is a large Victorian dwelling. The front panels are like a burr-wood, whilst the sides are plain, there are only brass mounts to the fronts and the corners, all the front panels have slight warps and splits, which should be visible from the photographs, all the interiors are papered with Korean style newspaper (?), overall: in an original condition, the top is very dusty as you would expect from a private client, it is possible some of the back boards have been replaced at some point, the bracket carvings are knocked, damaged and broke, and it sits on sledge type feet which might be later, 46.5 cm deep x 163 cm high Date is in all probability late 19th/early 20th century
A Liberty style walnut writing cabinet, with inlaid decoration, the three quarter pierced gallery above a fall front, the base having a frieze drawer on turned and carved legs joined by an undertier, 70 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by MW Top - scratched all over. Gallery bobbins intact. Inside there is an old ink stain on the top of the drawer top. Fall front inside, velvet pad worn, looks original, some ink marks, and the pad is lifting in bottom right hand corner. Overall condition commensurate with age, usual wear, knocks, scratches, bruising etc.
