A BLACK LACQUER ISHO DANSU, EDO PERIODJapan, 1603-1867. The isho dansu (cabinet of drawers) of rectangular shape with seven drawers, each with metal handles, locks, decorated with gold lacquer crests of the sun and cherry blossoms, the top with a large crest depicting the sun, further metal applications to all sides.Provenance: Dutch private collection.Condition: Commensurate with age, some wear, nicks, dents, surface scratches, age related cracks, touch ups, and repairs.Dimensions: c. 73 x 70 x 38 cm
Five Royal Crown Derby 1128 Imari pattern cabinet plates, three with date cypher for 1975 and two with date cypher for 1986 (one marked as second quality), each 27cm diameter (5) CONDITION REPORT:All plates are sound, showing no obvious chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. Three first quality plates show minor surface wear and rubbing to the gilt highlights. The fourth shows more extensive rubbing to the gilt. The second quality plate shows pitting and rubbing to the gilt.
A late 17th/early 18th century oyster laburnum veneered chest on stand, the pair of star veneered doors opening to an arrangement of drawers, the central cupboard door opening to a further arrangement, with conforming star veneer to the inside of the doors and the central door, raised upon a later associated ebonised stand, with tapering bobbin turned legs terminating in brass shoes and castors, 138cm H x 92cm W x 38cm D Condition reportSlight warp to the top of the cabinet with some minor blistering and cracks to the veneer.Sun bleaching/fading to the RHS of the cabinet, overall minor chips and repairs to the veneer.LH door very tight and won't close without force, possibly due to being warped, repaired split on the same door running from the top hinge.Splits running vertically on the inside of both doors, door fittings possibly later with some evidence of repairs around the lock of the interior door.General marks, chips and losses commensurate with age and use, ebonised stand is later associated.Please note this lot is offered for sale in accordance with the Ivory Act 2018, Trevanion Auctioneers & Valuers LLP have applied for a de minimis exemption licence for the ivory in this lotRef: 5LKRBLEC

A LACQUERED 'PEONY AND CRANES' WOOD CABINETJapan, 19th centuryThe cabinet with gilt and chiseled metal fittings, opening at the front with two doors and a drawer, behind the doors another set of six smaller drawers. Decorated in gold, silver and polychrome hiramaki-e and takamaki-e lacquering, with peonies among streams, the sides decorated with maple trees growing at the shore, the upper part showing cranes in flight near a pine tree.
