A mahogany boardroom or library table in 19th century style, mid 20th century, possibly railway related, the leather inset top with Greek key gilt tooled border, with a frieze drawer to each short end, on fluted tapering legs, 77cm high, 224cm long, 103cm wide  Provenance: From The Hon. William McAlpine Collection . Although referred to as the "railway" table there seem to be no stamps or marks that would indicate the provenance or initial commissioning of this table. It would seem to date from the mid-20th century onwards and the underside is copiously marked with the cabinet maker's pencil guides and notes

Y An early Victorian rosewood low collector's cabinet, circa 1840, the fossilised marble top above two banks of drawers, 85cm high, 118cm wide, 48cm deep Provenance: From The Hon. William McAlpine CollectionCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use,The handles appear to be the original, this has never had locks. No evidence the drawers have been previously fitted or divided.Some chips and losses, old splits and cracks, there are inset replacement areas of inlay, also some areas of loss. Some handles with losses and old chipsThe marble top is later (fairly recent) however it has scratches and indentations. It is laid onto the top of the chest base, there is un-polished pine here which appears to be original. It has probably always had a marble top of some sort. William McAlpine CollectionCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use,The handles appear to be the original Some chips and losses, old splits and cracks, this is especially true to the top also dents and scuffs to the timberThis was made to have specimens (probably natural history) there are none presently but some evidence remains (marks and stains) to the drawer linings, there is a groove to the top of each of the drawer sides where a glass top could have been fitted - there are no pieces of glass present. No keys present, the lock keeper to the cupboard door appears to have been sawn through to probably allow it to be opened previously. This would need to be replaced by the purchaser if wished. The base appears to be circa 1790 but with some repairs, restorations, alterations to locks and handles, however this will require further restoration work to replace the lost veneers, one lock totally removed, one handle missing the pull, the lowest drawer is stuck in the carcass.
