An early 19th century mahogany fitted travelling medicine chest or apothecary cabinet with secret compartment. With brass carrying handle, hinged doors fitted with compartments for facet cut medicine bottles, the central section further fitted for bottles and with drawer section below housing chemical balance, glass mortar and pestle and mixing bottles, 33cm high, 30cm wide, 21cm deep. Condition report intended as a guide only.With original key, lock working. One escutcheon lacking. Carrying handle tarnished. One bottle broken, one lacking stopper. Runner for the top row of drawers needs attention, when the second drawer is removed the runner drops.

Inlaid with parquetry panels of specimen woods, with tambour doors and rotating centre cabinets with pierced grills, 159cm high, 81cm wide, 36cm deep.Condition report intended as a guide only.Some fretwork detached but mostly retained. All doors intact. Swing function of centre cabinets work but some movement in the timbers have caused a stiff action.
