A French Louis Philippe mahogany, alabaster and gilt metal mounted cylinder desk, circa 1840, the architectural upper section with pediment decorated with classical maidens, pair of mirrored cabinet doors flanked by pilasters, opening to small drawers, revolving fall opening to an arrangement of small drawers and pigeon holes and sliding writing surface, three long drawers, block feet, 190cm high, 120cm wide, 65cm deep. Provenance: By family descent from Alexander Marshall Mackenzie(1848–1933). Mackenzie was a Scottish architect responsible for prestigious projects including the Isle of Man Banking Company in Douglas, Australia House and the Waldorf Hotel in London. He received royal patronage with the design of Crathie Kirk (1893) and was subsequently chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Fife (the Prince of Wales’s daughter Princess Louise) for the new Mar Lodge (1895).

Gillows - An ivory inlaid ebony and ebonised cabinet on stand, with parquetry panels and inlaid throughout with scrolling foliage, caryatids and putti, the hinged top enclosing a compartment, the two panelled doors flanked by pilasters, a pull out slide and frieze drawer below and on tapering fluted legs, joined by a curvilinear flat H stretcher, 83cm (2ft 8 1/2in) wide, 156cm (5ft 1 1/2in) high.
An early 19th Century oak, mahogany crossbanded and inlaid standing corner display cabinet, with a moulded dentil cornice and canted angles, the frieze decorated with oval shell medallion and paterae, the green painted interior with serpentine fronted fixed shelves enclosed by a pair of astragal glazed panel doors above and below, on bracket feet, 118cm (3ft 10 1/2in) across, 220cm (7ft 2 1/2in) high.
