VIII-IX new edition, 9 vols., 8vo (176 x 120mm.) Numerous maps and plans. (Light browning, occasional spotting, some leaves uncut.) Contemporary half-morocco, spine gilt in six compartments, lettered in the second and fourth, the others with repeat decoration in gilt, t.e.g. (4 vols. rebacked with old spines laid-down, some hinges reinforced, extremities scuffed and lightly bumped). Provenance: Arthur Brooke (armorial bookplate to front pastedowns).

A Victorian ebonised, incised gilt decorated, inlaid and gilt metal mounted rectangular side cabinet:, the amboyna wood banded and boxwood and ebony strung top with a pierced gilt brass arcaded three quarter gallery, fitted with plush lined open shelves and a central enclosed glazed cupboard, between gilt fluted and turned columns with gilt metal corinthian capitals, on a plinth base of breakfront outline, 183cm (6ft) long x 113cm (3ft 8 1.2in) high.
A late 19th Century satinwood and decorated display cabinet:, on serpentine fronted stand, painted with ribbon tied floral garlands and scrolling foliage, the domed upper part with a moulded cornice and frieze centred by a basket of fruit, the lined interior enclosed by a pair of lozenge glazed panel doors, the stand with an oval cameo portrait of a young lady, having a shaped apron on square tapered legs, united by an oval stretchered platform, 71cm (2ft 4in) wide, 164cm (5ft 4 1/2in) high.
