Ernest Gimson, 1864-1919, English walnut cabinet with ebony moulding, panelled cupboard doors and four drawers, drawer sides of oak with wide dovetails. The upper edges of the cabinet show decorative cogged dovetails and the sides, through tenons. Stepped trestle base, handmade double loop brass handles and backplates with fine rope twist surround are attributed to Alfred Bucknell, 104cm wide, 169cm high, 42cm deep A very similar cabinet was illustrated in a letter from Gimson to Philip Webb in 1907, in which he describes how the design of the cabinet evolved

Prime Ministers. A group of autograph signatures, 19th c., including William Pitt The Elder, cut from a vellum document dated October 1760 (‘W. Pitt'), free fronts with signatures of ‘Liverpool', ‘Palmerston', ‘Robert Peel', ‘W. Pitt' (William Pitt The Younger), ‘Wellington', uncut signatures of ‘Liverpool' (in a shaky hand), ‘Geo. Canning' and eleven signatures on small slips of paper, signed by the Government Cabinet of 1876 including ‘Disraeli', ‘Salisbury', ‘Penzance', ‘Gathorne Hardy', ‘Cairnes', and six other notables of the day. A late 19th Century Vernis Martin kingwood cabinet with gilt metal mounts, the arch top surmounted by shell and acanthus scrolls and with female caryatid mounts to the sides, enclosed by a bowfront glazed door with painted panel of lovers to the centre and landscapes to each side, on square section cabriole legs, 82cm (32.25") wide
