The interior fretwork is in generally very good order with only very minor staining and small stress fractures but no losses. One inkwell is missing. The pullout writing surface is in generally good condition. The tooled leather is marked and scuffed particularly along the edges between the hinges. The left hand door closes as it should and the brass retaining mechanisms operate. There is a small loss just above the lock escutcheon on the outside edge. The right hand door is not warped. The lock is present but detached, we have the key. We cannot currently operate the lock. The sides of the top are in good order. The left hand side of the base is in good condition. Both doors close as they should and are not warped. There are no cracks to the doors. The right hand side of the base has numerous old marks and scuffs. The plinth base itself is in generally good order with only minor veneer nibbles. The interior tray is present as is the shelf.
A Regency mahogany bedside cabinet, with carrying handle to either side, bowed door being crossbanded and raised on turned tapered legs. Width 41 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There is an 11 cm split to the extreme left hand side of the door panel starting at the top and running down. There is a veneer split running the full length of the panel on the right hand side. On the carcass next to the handle there is a semicircular mark that may have been produced by a larger handle at some point in its life. There is a width length fine split to the top running through the middle. There is a small 1 cm diameter x 1.2 cm diameter chunk missing on the exterior of the left hand side handle. The top has old partial ring stains. There is a width length split to the centre of the left hand side. The rear left hand leg has been broken and reattached, there is a 18.5 cm long replacement of wood. The backboard has six pierced holes, a full length split and a 16 cm split. The right hand side panel has a full length split. Having said all that the splits are age splits and this is still a functional piece of furniture.
An 18th century Indo-Portuguese double dome bureau bookcase, with mirrored doors opening to a series of drawers, cupboards and pigeonholes, with candle slides beneath and with slope front to fitted interior above three long graduated drawers with brass drop handles and shaped backplates and all raised on bracket feet. Width 102 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bureau bookcase is in generally good order. There is one small moulding loss to the top centre of the left hand dome. The sides of the top are in good order with no issues. Both mirrors have slight imperfections to the silvering but no significant issues. The doors are not warped. They close as they should. The interior is in generally very good order. All drawers and cupboards operate as they should. There are some minor blemishes to the cupboard door. There are two missing slide out dividers to the left and right pigeonholes. Both candle slides operate as they should. The slope front is in generally good condition with only minor blemishes and old stress fractures to the veneers. The slope is not warped. We have the key to the lock. The lock is probably not original as there is an old repair beneath the lock to the interior of the piece. The escutcheon also will be non-original. The escutcheon matches those on the drawer fronts which again are not original. The drawer locks are later replacements. The original locks will have been beneath the current lock escutcheons. The handles match the escutcheons but are later. There are dowelled repair holes only visible from the rear of the drawer fronts. The original key apertures are just visible below each lock escutcheon. The base moulding has some minor losses to the front crossbanded edge. Both sides of the cabinet have minor old surface marks and the odd scratch but no significant issues. The piece is structurally very sound.

Height 200 cm, width 182 cm, depth at deepest point 67.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This bookcase is very good quality and in very original untouched, unrestored condition. It is basically a very good colour and is structurally very sound but does require work. The cornice has a missing section to the right hand return moulding. When looking at the piece from the side the cornice and rear section of the base and the bottom return moulding have been removed in order to fit the bookcase into an alcove. The left hand side has a small loss to the bottom edge of the cornice. The sides of the top and the base are in generally good order. The ebonised return moulding which runs below the doors is missing on the left hand side. It is also missing on the right hand side. The left hand door has one pane of cracked glass. The door is not warped. The right hand door is not warped. The left hand door of the centre section shuts as it should and the retaining locks operate correctly. The top of the base has numerous old ring and watermarks. The base drawers are all in generally good condition with only surface scuffs and scratches. The centre panelled doors close as they should and are not warped. The centre mahogany edging strip has losses. The plinth base is scuffed and marked. A William IV Goncalo Alves breakfront sideboard, with scroll carved rear pediment above a shelf, turned columns and mirror, the base fitted with a series of drawers with brass grilles, with moulding below and raised on scroll front feet. All doors close as they should and there is no significant warping. The centre right hand door has a veneer repair to the top right hand corner. There are minor veneer nibbles to both doors none of which are serious. The centre right hand door is missing its lock escutcheon as is the right hand door. The grilles are in generally good order. The material has clearly been replaced at some point and the beading behind each door has some losses and minor damage. The carved scroll feet are in good condition. The sides of the cabinet are in good order also. The backboards are original and again in good condition.
A Victorian mahogany open bookcase, with rear pediment, adjustable shelves and fitted with two drawers to the plinth base. Width 97.5 cm, height 165 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top has a 13 cm diagonal split to the centre and to the left of this there is 6 cm of what looks like a stain drip. There are four small indents to the rear of the top and a further six indents to the front. There is a small section of veneer missing to the rear left side and rear left front of the top. A small section of veneer is missing to the rear right side of the top. The right hand side has a raised panel beneath the bookcase top of which there is a small splice of veneer missing at the rear. The right hand side base moulding has small sections of veneer missing and a strip of veneer has been replaced. The front of the right hand side bracket foot has a 3 cm x 2.5 cm splice missing. There are small knocks to the moulding at the base of the bookcase, a 10 cm split to the right hand side of the moulding and a 6 cm split to the left hand side. There have been corbals to the top and bottom of each pilaster which are now missing and attachment holes have been filled and polished. This is most likely to have been a display cabinet at some time in its life as there are filled patches evident where a hinge may have sat. However given all these faults this is a clean piece of furniture ready for use.
A George III mahogany bedside cabinet, with carrying handle to either side, fitted with two drawers and raised on short turned legs. Width 46 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is structurally sound. The top is not cracked. It has minor old surface scratches and marks. The cupboard door shuts as it should. There is a small veneer fracture to the top left hand corner but no loss. The bottom drawer has a stress fracture across the centre but again no losses. The handles appear to be original. The sides and back of the piece are solid with no issues. The legs are all original with no breaks. There are minor scuffs and marks but no real significant issues.
A near pair of Victorian mahogany bedside cabinets, each with three quarter gallery, single door with wooden knob handle and plinth base. Widths 43.5 cm and 41 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both cabinets are in very good original condition. There is no evidence of any repairs or restoration.
