Art Nouveau walnut bedroom suite comprising of a three-door wardrobe, pair of single beds, dressing table, bedside cabinet, dressing stool and chair, standard lamp, each with gilt beading, quarter veneer, square cabriole legs terminating in pad feet; wardrobe 183cm wide, 214cm high and 53cm deep; dressing table 128cm wide and 73cm deep; bedside cabinet 39cm wide, 76cm high and 38cm deep; bed 100cm wide, 127cm high and 215cm long.CONDITION REPORT: Good, usable condition. All items are colour faded from the sun. There are general scuffs and scraps, as with use.Dressing table - colour faded. Timber is dry to the back (sun damage). There are some dents to the moulding of the legs. There are chips to the veneer below the right hand drawer. Drawers stick well. Mirrors clean.Wardrobe - Colour faded. There are chips to the veneer along the base. General scuffs and scrapes. Hanging space 53cm wide and 45cm deep. Doors not warpedStool - upholstery is marked and faded. Colour fading.Chair - as stool. Small movement to the frame.Standard lamp - colour fading.Pot cupboard - colour faded. The moulding to the feet is heavily chipped.Beds - colour faded.
Elegant Extracts From the Most Eminent….. John Sharpe, c. 1810., 36 volumes in 18. 12mo. Uniformly finely bound in full contemporary straight grained morocco, ornate gilt on the spines and covers with a central lyre device to each board, all edges gilt. Contained in a purpose built miniature glass fronted cabinet bookcase. Comprising 6 volumes of Epistles, 6 of Verse and 6 of Prose. 15.5 inches tall, 12 inches wide.(18)Condition report: Damage to pediment of cabinet. Occasional light spotting/foxing to some volumes. Insect (?) damage to front board and top of spine on volume 6 verse.
A pair of 19th century ebony and tortoiseshell boulle work inlaid side cabinets, each having a black marble top, gilt bronze mounts, the panelled doors with cut brass red and coloured tortoiseshell inlays, opening to reveal shelved interior, w.92.5cm, d.37cm, h.134cm.Marble tops both with several minor rim chips.Both appear completely unrestored.Small break to lion tail on one side mount, but present.Some losses to cut brass stringing on sides and areas of front base of both.Cut brass stringing is heavily tarnished in places.Gilt bronze mounts with tarnishing spots, mostly to exposed areas.Boulle work to panel doors approx. 97% + complete.Missing one lower gilt bronze corner mount to cabinet door.One gilt bronze lockplate missing.No keys.Both grubby and completely unpolished.
A George III mahogany display cabinet, of small proportions, the top astragal glazed to all sides, with locking end door enclosing single glass shelf, the whole raised upon blind carved chamfered square supports, w.68cm, d.28cm, h.123cm.Stands well.All glass good.Repairs to timber by hinges on end door.Old repair and small loss to two corners.The whole otherwise in well-used condition, showing significant age wear but basically good.
An antique oyster veneered cabinet on stand, the cabinet having an arrangement of ten drawers, each flanking a centre ivory, penwork decorated and marquetry inlaid central door concealing unfitted interior, the stand with further oyster veneers (some losses and with later repairs), w.103cm, h.149cm, d.42cmCondition report: Stand possibly associated.Some losses throughout, particularly to base of stand.Several small veneer repairs.Oyster to lower right drawer matches stand but not the other drawers.Sides good.Top not veneered.Base of stand with major veneer losses.The whole with later repairs.Supports and stretchers all appear later.Stands well.Requires good polish, timbers quite dry.
