This stunning new acrylic contains a flown artifact from each space flown US space shuttle commemorating the end of the Space Shuttle program-1981-2011-20 years of space history :Made out of the most advanced acrylic available on the market today-Plexid 55-these are ultraclear with no discoloration over time. Unlike other privately made acrylics these are real blocks, not cheaply glued or screwed together. Each block is in the size of 4" x 6" and about 1`` thick. Perfect for any office table or even flat down in a cabinet! This acrylic contains fragments from each Space Shuttle that went into orbit-each fragment has been flown into space : Space Shuttle Columbia : Flown Duct Tape on STS-5, Space Shuttle Challenger : Flown AFRSI blanket on STS-41 G, Space Shuttle Discovery : Flown Gap Filler on STS-91, Space Shuttle Atlantis : Flown blanket on STS-86, Space Shuttle Endeavour : Flown blanket on STS-77, Any items from the Space Shuttle Challenger are incredibly rare as they were all secured after the explosion of the orbiter and little was released before such as this blanket. The AFRSI blanket is used instead of heatshield tiles as it is more flexible as the name says. Comes with a certificate of authenticity and copies of the original NASA papers. A Continental ebony and ivory inlaid display cabinet, 19th century, profusely decorated with engraved and inlaid figures, animals and foliate scrollwork, the outswept pediment above two glazed doors enclosing three adjustable shelves covered with turquoise velvet, below two cupboard doors, raised on stepped and blocked feet, 153 by 32 by 214cm high. Provenance: The Estate of the late Sir David Davenport-Handley, Clipsham Hall, Clipsham, Rutland.
A Continental oak bookcase on chest, carved grapes and vines, 85 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by NG Part of cornice detached but present. Cornice currently ill fitting. Some movement in carcass as lock on door closed but the door will open and close, although the lock does rub the edge of the cabinet. Lock appears to have been replaced. Contains three shelves (2 + 1). Some cracks inside panels to base. Some knocks and bumps to base. Inside of top drawer with a baize lining, this has deteriorated. Grubby, rubbing and scratches to painted decoration and surface. A couple of glaze faults. Some pitting and pock marks. Report by Daniel Peacock The height of the bookcase - 222 cm
