Eric Wilson VC Major General Michael Forrester Lt Col B S T Archer GC , The Rt Hon J Enoch Powell, Details below. Sgt John Daniel Hinton VC. Signed 20th Bn.2nd N.Z.E.F.( Canterbury Regt.) Awarded the Victoria Cross at Kalamai, Greece on 28th/29th April 1941 and Wg Cdr E A Howell OBE DFC Was Officer Commanding No 33 Sqn when severely wounded and taken prisoner during the Battle of Crete. He was transferred to Kokkinia near Athens and then to Dulag 183 in Salonika. Despite having lost the use of both arms he escaped from the prison Hospital and walked 100 miles to Chalkidiki. From there he was taken by fishing boat from Ay Nicola to Imbros in Turkey from where he was repatriated Eric Wilson VC. Won Victoria Cross in Somaliland (attached Somali Mounted Infantry), was Acting Captain of the East Surrey Regiment Lt Col B S T Archer GC George Cross Holder, Won his George Cross on 2nd September 1940 as a bomb disposal man with Corps of Royal Engineers Major General Michael Forrester British Army officer who commanded 4th Division. Commissioned into the Queen's Royal Regiment in 1938 and took part in the response to the Arab revolt in Palestine in 1939. He served in World War11 in Greece and in the Western Desert before becoming Commanding Officer of 1/6th Bn Queen's Royal Regiment in 1943; in that role he secured the key bridge at Scafati in Italy and then took part in the Normandy Landing before being wounded there. The Rt Hon J Enoch Powell enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Rather than waiting to be called up, he claimed to be Australian, Powell was commissioned on the General List in 1940 but almost immediately transferred to the Intelligence Corps. He was soon promoted to captain and posted as GSO3 (Intelligence) to the 1st (later 9th) Armoured Division. was a British politician, classical scholar, linguist and poet. He served as a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) (1950-74), Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) MP (1974-1987), and Minister of Health (1960-63). He attained most prominence in 1968, when he made a controversial speech on immigration, now widely referred to as the "Rivers of Blood" speech. In response, he was dismissed from his position as Shadow Defence Secretary (1965-68) in the Shadow Cabinet of Edward Heath.
