Silver Cutlery Canteen - an extremely fine canteen of Walker & Hall silver cutlery, Sheffield 1898, contained in five drawers of an oak cabinet. Comprises approximately one hundred and fifty pieces of which one hundred and fifteen pieces are solid silver (the thirty six knives are silver handled). The total troy ozs weight of weighable silver is approximately 240 ozs, all pieces in little used condition and the fine decorated handles all with discreet monograms to the top (Provenance: the canteen bears a brass tablet in Welsh stating that the canteen was presented by members of Princes Road Chapel, Liverpool to the well known preacher, the Reverend John Williams on the occasion of his wedding to Edith Mary Hughes on May 10th, 1899. The Reverend retired in 1906 and lived in Brynsiencyn, Anglesey where he died in 1921. This is considered to be one of the finest canteens of silver cutlery ever offered by this auction house
Three mid 19th century Sevres porcelain shaped cabinet plates, each finely painted to the centre with head and shoulder studies of young women including Madam Royale (Marie Therese de France, daughter of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette) within enamelled jewelled borders decorated with coronets, under-glaze blue mark to base and initials 'LG', retail paper label on two for Gilman Collamore & Co., New York, 24.5 cm dia.
