Areas of fading and discolouration. Staining throughout. Evidence of old worm to the top, the feet, the doors and areas on both sides. There are numerous knocks, chips and dents to the piece, mainly to the back of the top. There is a large chip and a split to the wood on the right hand door near the escutcheon and old screw holes next to that chip where there was possibly an old lock. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.

Lot 353

A 17th Century and later oak chest, the plank top with applied moulded edge over four long drawers with applied mouldings and brass drop handles, raised on bracket feet, 90 cm wide x 57.5 cm deep x 89.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The top has various large splits both to the panelling and otherwise as well as a large patch to the left-hand corner. Various ring marks, surface scratches, etc. Both side panels have splits, the drawers do not all match - assume replacements throughout - see images for more details. Replacement handles and escutcheons. The top drawer has a large piece broken in the interior, piece is present but damaged. There is a large hole in the back of the cabinet. Unsure if the feet are original to the piece however have been on there clearly for some time - see images for more details. Otherwise general wear commensurate with age and use.
