Gillow & Co. occasionally diversified into making furniture in Louis XVI style and several examples made in 1907 are illustrated in Christopher Gilbert: Furniture at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall, cat.226-229.

Original WWI Naval Signal, handwritten in pencil and dated 16-9-14, 'The following received from 1st Lord of the Admiralty is communicated for general information and guidance. Cabinet has authorised the grant conditional upon allotment of separation allowances during the war to wives and children of all naval ratings and marines. Payment to be calculated from the 1st Oct. Details later. That I take this opportunity of congratulating the fleet upon this recognition of their labours and interests, signed, Churchill', a little frayed at edges, without loss, approx. 17 x 20 cm. (1)
